Ability to work varying shifts (Day and Afternoon), Monday - Friday.
Summary
Under the general supervision of the Manager Parking Services, oversees, coordinates and performs maintenance and support duties associated with the University parking program. The Compliance Officer coordinates their time management between office duties and outside patrols on a daily basis. The position works in the office and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Organizational Status
Under the general supervision of the Manager Parking Services, is fully aware of all aspects of parking at the University and provides information on parking to faculty, staff, public and students. The Compliance Officer works with the Manager Parking Services to ensure duties are completed including the issuing of parking permits, financial management of all collected monies, parking lot maintenance, equipment maintenance, signage and enforcement.
Work Performed
1. Provides support to the Manager Parking Services by:
- Issuing parking violations (tickets), organizing and coordinating installation and removal of immobilization device on multiple violation offenders vehicles.
- Reporting maintenance on all parking lots, keeping the appearance at an acceptable level, e.g., repairs, resurfacing, line painting and sweeping.
- Assisting Parking Services with installation and maintenance of parking meters, ticket dispensing machines, light standards and other equipment.
- Assisting with collecting coinage from parking meters, and ticket dispensers.
- Assisting with ordering, collecting, storing and maintaining equipment stock to ensure all parking lot equipment is kept operational.
- Evaluating condition of parking lot equipment and reporting to Manager Parking Services.
- Assisting in maintaining and servicing Parking Services vehicles and equipment.
- Supporting Ceremonies, Conference Centre, Faculties and Departments to assist with special requirements for parking services, e.g. signage, traffic control.
- Providing back up for other Parking Compliance Officers.
2. Provides office support to Parking Services by:
- First responder for enquiries and complaints from faculty, staff, students and the general public.
- Reconciling records of issued parking passes, collecting and financial management of all funds collected.
- Entering information and maintaining computerized Parking Services Data Base (PSDB) software program.
- Assisting with refunds, bank deposits, journal vouchers, financial services reconciliations and revenue statements as required.
- Accurately maintaining all records, and forwarding to the appropriate UBC financial department for monthly reconciliation when required.
- Working with and maintaining electronic wireless debit, and visa card instrument and acquiring service when required. Processing and recording all related printouts as required.
3. Performs other related duties as required.

Errors of judgment, untimely or inaccurate advice, and inappropriate decisions on procedures or policies could reflect negatively on the department.
Supervision Received
Reports to the Manager Parking Services. Works under limited supervision while performing their duties.
Supervision Given
This position presently has no direct supervision duties.
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.A minimum of one year related experience.Maintain a valid BC Class 5 driver s license.Must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift up to 30 kilograms and able to conduct appropriate snow removal where required.Demonstrated ability to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner. A Certified bicycle training course is a definite asset. Basic Security Training, Level I & II and/or a valid Provincial Security license, and/or By Law Enforcement Level I course are a definite asset.Ability to perform in a polite, courteous and tactful manner when dealing with faculty, staff, students and the general public.Ability to demonstrate good judgment when handling situations.Knowledgeable in business machines, two way radios and other related electronic devices.
