In depth knowledge of test circuits, equipment and high voltage power transformers is required. As part of the engineering team, you will also provide your expertise to the test team for fault detection. The test engineer will be reporting to the test manager Your responsibilities
  • Supervise the testing of power transformers and shunt reactors ensuring compliance with protocols, analyze results and act as the technical liaison between the three parties (customers, Hitachi Energy, Laboratory)
  • Participate in "pre-test" inspection committees to ensure compliance of the test object and reduce non-quality costs.
  • Write test reports in a timely manner ensuring that they meet our customers\' needs.
  • Prepare and validate test requests according to our customers\' specifications and the latest revisions of applicable international standards (IEEE, CSA, IEC).
  • Act as a resource person to support the various test requests in his field of expertise.
  • Assist and facilitate meetings with the laboratory to establish priorities to meet contractual objectives.
  • Perform and interpret some special tests (SFRA, DFRA, RSO, ...).
  • Prepare numerical models of transformers (EMTP, FT, MICROCAP, etc.) for analysis and reduction of test time.
  • Participate in investigations and problem solving while contributing to one or more of the company\'s global working groups.
  • Follow closely the technological and scientific developments in the field of power transformer testing
Your background
  • Bachelor\'s degree in electrical engineering with extensive knowledge in the field of high voltage. Master\'s degree or PhD in the same field would be an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a relevant field; experience in power transformer design would be an asset.
  • Experience in data analysis and interpretation of results
  • Knowledge of applicable test protocols and standards
  • Member of the OIQ would be an asset
  • Bilingualism (French and English)
  • Agility, results-orientation, team spirit, creativity, and self-starting mindset
