has an exciting career opportunity. We are seeking a highly qualified candidate to lead our Custom Fabrication Team at our facility in Chilliwack, BC. This position is integral to addressing our significant backlog and supporting Canada's shipbuilding industry by designing, fabricating, and assembling various closures, doors, and hatches for vessels currently under construction.

wage range of $35-$45

The ideal candidate will demonstrate extensive experience in interpreting welding and fabrication drawings, alongside strong expertise in electrical and hydraulic systems. The successful applicant will excel as a team player and leader, adept at managing a crew of employees and navigating the complexities that may arise during the production process. Working closely with our in-house Engineering Team, the candidate will be instrumental in ensuring timely delivery of our projects. Essential Functions for this Role are:

Working closely with our in-house Engineering Team, ensuring timely delivery of projects Oversee AdvanTec Equipment Maintenance personnel or outsourcing needs Provide support to the Production Manager Daily crew talks Daily scanned in hours between 75-80% Collect and maintain department Preventive Maintenance sheets Approve team payroll and vacation time Progressive discipline in department as needed Accountability for bi-annual performance reviews for all team members Updating department Pace charts as needed Monitor the flow of production; Prioritizing as required Team Coordination: Coordinate the team and ensure they are applying all policies and procedures Meeting Goals: Accountable for the team's ability to meet production goals, overall schedule attainment Track and record production numbers daily Provide assistance as needed when equipment is down, or there are issues with supplies Communicate to the department Production Manager if equipment is not operating properly. Report any observed performance issues to the Production Manager Lead by example (safety and workmanship) Make sure all employees in the department are following safe work procedures Perform work in a safe manner by following all safety rules and practices Wear personal protective equipment (PPE): steel toed footwear, safety glass, face mask, etc. Report any unsafe work practices or dangerous work habits Monitor work area by checking for trip hazards, unsafe or faulty equipment and/or any unsafe conditions. Work in accordance with documented procedures and complete all applicable records

Experience, Qualifications, and Skills required:

Minimum 2-years' experience in a production facility and multicultural work staff environment Red Seal preferred in Millwright, Electrician or Welder/Fabricator Demonstrate extensive experience in interpreting welding and fabrication drawings Strong expertise in electrical and hydraulic systems Experience with welding, fabrication, electrical and hydraulics, assembly and quality control Excel as a team player and leader, adept at managing a crew of employees and navigating the complexities that may arise Able to operate with our core values in mind: "We love to help, we move fast to action, we build for the future, we thrive under pressure, and you can trust us to own it" Ship Building an asset Strong leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written An eye for quality is essential to uphold the standards of final products Must be a team player - possess interpersonal skills Excellent time management and organization Comfortable with computers and learning new production equipment software applications as required
