Kick Nation Taekwondo is a family-owned martial arts school dedicated to fostering confidence, discipline, and leadership in our community. Our programs cater to all ages, from young children to adults, and emphasize life skills such as focus, respect, and perseverance. Through our Leadership Program, students are encouraged to develop into future leaders and instructors.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and energetic Taekwondo Instructor to join our growing team. This is an ideal opportunity for an individual who loves martial arts and enjoys working with students of all ages, while inspiring and mentoring others in a supportive, community-focused environment that also fosters personal growth and teaching development.
Key Responsibilities:
Leads Taekwondo classes for children, teens, and/or adults of all ages and varying skill levels
Teaches proper technique, form (poomsae), sparring, kicks, and self-defense
Provides mentorship and guidance to students, helping them develop both martial arts techniques and life skills.
Supports the implementation of the Leadership Program, encouraging students to take on teaching roles and responsibilities.
Promotes respect, discipline, and a positive attitude in the dojang
Assists in belt testings, studio events, special events, training camps, day camps, coaching at competitions, and community outreach programs.
Ensures a safe and positive learning environment by adhering to all safety protocols and class structures making it an inclusive environment for all students
Assists with administrative duties such as student check-in, attendance, and parent communication
Maintains a clean and organized studio, including light cleaning duties
Mentor Instructors, Assistant Instructors, Jr. Assistant Instructors, and volunteers
Prepares and deliver and/or oversee the delivery of lessons
Curriculum development input
May need to safely drive students to and from schools and the studio (company vehicle provided), if needed.
Assist with and ensure the safe and timely pick-up and drop-off of students
Responsible for the instruction and supervision of the Taekwondo After-School Program and/or Evening Program.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Must hold a minimum 2nd Dan Black Belt Kukkiwon Certificate in Taekwondo.
Minimum five (5) years of Taekwondo teaching experience.
Proven experience in teaching or instructing both Poomsae and Sparring, particularly in WT Taeguek Forms and Techniques
Excellent communication and leadership skills
CPR-C/First Aid certification is required or willingness to obtain
This position requires the successful candidate to provide a clear criminal record check with a vulnerable sector screening.
Must hold and maintain a valid G class driver's licence and provide a clean driver's abstract.
Ability to work evenings and some weekends.
Dojang Coach certified is an asset or willing to obtain (Performance Coach certification preferred)
NCCP Comp-Dev certification an asset or willing to obtain
