RAW - Japanese Hand Roll Bar is a small, locally owned restaurant that opened in March 2024. Over the past year, we've built a tight-knit, hard-working team and a supportive, respectful work environment. The Role
We are hiring a
Sushi Line Cook / Hand Roll Chef
to support our back-of-house operations during a
temporary near-full-time coverage period (mid-February to mid-March, Tuesday-Sunday)
, with
potential for long-term employment
for the right candidate.
Hiring will begin
immediately
to allow for training and integration into both
BOH and FOH operations
.
This role is ideal for someone who already has strong kitchen fundamentals and either:
Has experience with sushi / seafood and wants to step into a larger role, or
Is confident on the line and ready to grow into a sushi-focused position
Key Responsibilities
Prepare ingredients and handle seafood according to restaurant standards
Assist with sushi and hand roll preparation, plating, and service execution
Work the line efficiently during service (including fryer and prep stations)
Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in all BOH areas
Follow food safety procedures at all times
Communicate clearly with the BOH team to support smooth service
Assist with opening, closing, and general kitchen duties as needed
Requirements
Fluent English (spoken and written)
required
Minimum
2+ years kitchen experience required
Experience with sushi, Japanese cuisine, or seafood is a strong asset
Strong knife skills
or
demonstrated ability to develop them quickly
Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation
Reliable, professional, and able to perform under pressure
Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and take ownership
