PCC is looking for a student to join our Resource Management Team.
Reporting to the Lead, Reservoir Engineer, you will provide professional, efficient, and effective support. You\xe2\x80\x99ll gain knowledge of Reservoir Engineering and Resource Management specific to the Oilsands asset and have the opportunity to apply academic concepts in the workplace.
This position is based out of our Calgary head office and is a four-month term starting May 2023. Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday.
Accountabilities
With the help and mentorship of the professional team at PCC, you will complete the following SoW (Statement of Work) focused on oilsands support:

  • MRCP Historical Temperature Fall-Off (TFO) Update
    • Need to update TFO database by well pair since 2020
    • Collect Temperature FO information for wells being S/I and interpret hot/cold spot and other issues
  • Observation Wells Follow-Up (and evaluation of repair history)
    • A weekly update of Observation well status (including malfunctions)
    • Complete full assessment of steam chamber development (temperature and pressure reading interpretation)
    • Complete a follow-up of historical remediations, recurrent problems, and repair efficiency
  • MRCP Forecast Template Optimizations (Monthly and LRP templates)
    • Contribute to optimizing and updating currently used templates for a more efficient forecasting process
  • Support 2023 MRCP Heave update:
    • Work with RE to help validate and QC the results of the expected InSAR heave update in the summer of 2023
  • Upgrade/optimize SAGD follow-up templates with SPOTFIRE
    • Explore and conduct integration between PI database and SPOTFIRE to optimize SAGD follow-up tools
  • WBSK sand fluid and pressure balance study
    • Complete a material/pressure balance of the observed pressure responses in the WBSK sand; Possible use of reservoir numerical simulation tools
  • As an active member of the RE team:
    • Support the team\xe2\x80\x99s technical and reporting requests
    • Participate in technical discussions and provide technical opinions and feedback to the team.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a minimum of 3rd year Petroleum, Chemical or Geological Engineering or completion of 1 year graduate studies
  • One previous work term as a summer student or co-op in the oil and gas industry is an asset
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Microsoft Office, Teams; Proficiency with MS Word (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience with CMGL STARS and coding/programming is a plus
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving oriented

  • Confident, detail orientated and enthusiastic team player
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and analytical skills
