Position Description





SickKids\xe2\x80\x99 Research Institute is seeking two (2) Summer Students to join our Research IT Department. In this role, you will be immersed in a diverse IT environment that spans across a broad range of platforms, products, and services. You\xe2\x80\x99ll have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with project management, business analyses, and learn about important IT service management concepts. You will work with seasoned technology professionals and will be mentored by one of our Senior Managers. Daily responsibilities will range from answering support requests, analyzing issues, conducting software testing, to supporting communications and implementation activities. To be successful, you will need to have a keen eye for detail, the ability to distill and collate information, and be a team-player. You will also need to be creative, self-directed, innovative, and results oriented.


Here\xe2\x80\x99s What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Get To Do:

  • Provide support to the SickKids research community across multiple research applications and IT services by answering support requests, escalating major issues to senior team members
  • Execute coordination, analysis and administration duties as required\xc2\xbf
  • Collaborate with staff within our infrastructure and systems, project management, product management, development, DevOps, and application support functions
  • Attend in-office meetings as required
  • Other duties as assigned


Here\xe2\x80\x99s What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Need:

  • Current registration as a student in a recognized college or university
  • Exposure to one of: business analysis, software development, product management, project management, or related technology focused work and concepts
  • Ability to learn and work with new technologies and applications
  • Excellent attention to detail\xc2\xbf
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide superb customer service
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Can-do attitude, resourceful, and demonstrates initiative
  • Please mention if you have demonstrable experience using:
  • Atlassian Jira and Confluence
  • Communication tools such as Microsoft Teams or Slack


Employment Type:

Full-time, 4-month contract position with the SickKids Family, working alongside the best & the brightest. You can expect a hybrid work environment with some flexibility to work from home. We prefer candidates that are willing to commute to the SickKids campus in downtown Toronto on a regular basis.\xc2\xbf\xc2\xbf 2 openings available
