Work Arrangement: HybridDepartment: Standards AreaOverview:Pembina Pipeline Corporation\'s Calgary office is recruiting for a Senior Processing Engineer to join the team. This position reports to the Director of Process Safety in the Safety Unit, part of Pembina\'s External Affairs Division.Promoting Pembina\'s Safety Culture - Zero by Choice, the Safety Service Unit is dedicated to delivering quality products and services by leading the enterprise-wide occupational health and safety, process safety, physical security, and emergency management programs, insurance program and Operations Management System governance. The Safety team ensures compliance with all company, federal and local government health, safety, security and emergency management regulations and requirements ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees, contractors, and communities.The Senior Process Safety Engineer in the Safety Unit at Pembina is responsible for developing, implementing and supporting Pembina\'s Process Safety Management (PSM) program to ensure the safety and health of workers across a variety of assets covering plants, pipelines and terminals. This role requires extensive knowledge of industrial processes, regulations, and best practices including, but not limited to, OSHA 1910.119, CCPS Risk Based Process Safety, CSA Z767, IEC 61511 etc. to mitigate risks and promote a safe work environment. Preference will be given to candidates familiar with ABSA, ASME, CSA, NFPA and API codes and standards.Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

Process Safety Management Program:
  • Support the corporate and asset teams in efforts to develop, implement and support the Process Safety Management (PSM) program;
  • Lead organizational change to build and develop process safety culture and processes;
  • Track and analyze PSM Key Performance Indicators to ensure timely reporting and actionable insights; and
  • Provide oversight and be considered a super user for the Management of Change (MOC) process.
Incident Investigation:
  • Lead and manage incident investigations, including root cause analysis and development of corrective actions;
  • Perform quality assurance checks on all major incident investigations to ensure compliance and consistency; and
  • Share key incident learnings and recommendations across the organization.
Risk Assessment and Management:
  • Facilitate and/or participate in risk assessment meetings, including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, and Bow Tie analyses, for small projects, MOCs as well as cyclical HAZOPs; and
  • Support the development and implementation of risk management processes, including Operational Risk Registers.
Audit and Assurance:
  • Provide technical and engineering leadership on PSM elements such as MOC, PSSR, and process design;
  • Monitor process safety metrics, analyze data to identify trends and outliers, and make recommendations for improvements; and
  • Conduct internal audits and participate in external audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
Qualifications:Experience:
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in PSM, with proven track record in supporting Operations and Process/Process Safety engineering; and
  • Experience developing and implementing a corporate/enterprise level PSM program for use in a multiple asset and multiple jurisdiction context.
Skills and Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of Process Safety principles, regulations (OSHA 1910.119, EPA RMP), and best practices (CCPS RBPS, CSA Z767) with focus on energy pipeline/gas processing/petrochemical industries;
  • Experience building and maturing a PSM program in the midstream oil and gas sector would be considered an asset;
  • Experience in HAZOP and LOPA along with working knowledge of safety instrumented systems and Quantitative Risk Assessments;
  • A strong technical understanding of process safety, natural gas liquids fractionation, process optimization, data analysis and operational best practices;
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex scenarios and recommend effective control strategies;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and effectively communicate technical information to diverse audiences;
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively;
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for data analysis, report writing, and presentation; and
  • SAP experience would be considered an asset.
Certifications:
  • CCPS Certified Process Safety Professional would be considered an asset; and
  • Certified Functional Safety Professional (or Expert) from Exida or equivalent will be considered an asset.
Additional Requirements:This a Calgary based role, but travel to various work site will be required in Canada (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario) and the United States (Illinois, North Dakota). Travel requirements anticipated to be 10-15% of time.The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position.
