As a department, we work to promote Nova Scotia as Canada\'s premier fish and seafood province.About Our OpportunityUnder the direction of the Sportfish Development Officer, the Fish Nova Scotia Outreach Assistant supports initiatives to design, develop, plan, teach, train, evaluate, and deliver educational programs to grow, promote and market Nova Scotia\'s sportfishing industry.Fish Nova Scotia Outreach Assistant is responsible for assisting with the coordination and administration of the overall education programs. Responsibilities also include promoting the understanding of, and to encourage the wise use of Nova Scotia\'s Recreational Sportfishery throughout the province. The objective of promoting recreational fisheries in Nova Scotia is to boost the number of anglers, with a special focus on encouraging women, children, under-represented groups, and visitors to participate.Primary Accountabilities

  • Update website content (photos, blog content, and guides)
  • Manage Fish nova Scotia creative assets, catalogue and sort digital photos and videos for social media, website, and marketing use.
  • Assist with social media planning.
  • Sportfish Registry review of program
  • Assist with the scheduling and delivery of the Learn to Fish Program
Qualifications and Experience
  • Recently, within the last 3 years, graduated from a marketing, education, or social science program. Other relevant programs will be considered.
  • Please demonstrate how the skills and knowledge gained while completing your degree can help advance the departmental goal of Growing the Sportfish Industry
  • Interest in Sportfishing or outdoor activities
  • Knowledge of the Nova Scota Sportfish Industry is an asset.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Teamwork and a positive attitude are very important.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, high motivation, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess a clean and valid class 5 (or equivalent) drivers license.
