In this role, you will:
  • Carry out testing, acceptance and maintenance activities for various Victoria Class Submarine systems and equipment
  • Act as a Test Director and direct multi-disciplinary employees during the testing of submarine systems and equipment
  • Conduct equipment trouble-shooting, fault diagnosis and corrective maintenance
  • Record defects using Babcock Canada IT applications
  • Be responsive to Commissioning Managers for dynamic program delivery requirements in a shipyard waterfront environment
  • Identify risks and opportunities during the course of testing and maintenance
The ideal candidate brings:
  • Strong technical skills including post-secondary education or apprenticeship in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Eligible for recognition as AScT or EIT designation, as applicable, in British Columbia
  • 8 years\' experience maintaining, testing, or commissioning mechanical systems
  • Strong communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonal
  • Experience with internal and external tank pressure testing is an asset, including large volume hydrostatic testing
  • Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems including, pressure vessels
  • Specific knowledge and experience in the following areas are considered assets:
  • Material fitness inspections, lifting appliance certification and strength testing of fixed components such as eye plates, bollards, capstans
  • Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems as well as Chilled Water cooling systems and equipment Set to Work experience
  • Diesel engine familiarity
  • Gas turbine familiarity
  • Bulk liquid storage familiarity
  • Marine, offshore oil and gas drilling or naval vessel experience, an asset
  • New construction commissioning or retro-commissioning, an asset
  • Submarine operational experience, an asset
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office suite
  • Proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, meaning that you must have received the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by the Government of Canada with the final dose at least 14 days prior to your start date
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
