The Opportunity
Join our team as the Senior Manager, Programs and help lead high-impact programs that support children and youth across Toronto. Reporting to the Programs Director, this role provides strategic leadership in planning, implementing, evaluating, and continuously improving the Beyond 3:30 and Vision & Hearing programs. This senior-level role supports cross-functional initiatives, oversees evaluation frameworks, and ensures that programs are aligned with organizational goals. The Senior Manager acts as a backup to the Programs Director and plays a vital role in partner engagement, strategic planning, and inter-department collaboration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Leadership and Improvement
Lead program planning, development, and execution in collaboration with the Director.
Monitor program quality and alignment with strategic priorities and community needs.
Oversee and refine evaluation tools and outcome measurement systems.
Provide high-level analysis and recommendations to enhance program delivery, reach, and impact.
Guide and support program staff in applying consistent practices and fostering innovation.
Drive continuous program and systems improvement by identifying administrative and operational gaps and efficiencies, and evaluating technology and IT solutions to support long-term program and administrative effectiveness
Represent programs at internal and external meetings and act as a delegate for the Director when required.
Act as the senior point of contact for day-to-day program issues in the absence of the Director.
Collaborate across departments (Finance, HR, Development, Communications, Supply Chain, IT) to ensure seamless program integration and resourcing.
Support the recruitment, onboarding, and training of program staff, including planning and developing training materials and processes.
Provide coaching, mentorship and guidance to team members and contribute to a culture of learning and equity.
Data and Reporting
Oversee the collection and analysis of program data to inform decision-making and strategy.
Synthesize research, trends, and stakeholder feedback to shape long-term program direction.
Develop and present insights to executive leadership, funders, and external stakeholders.
Ensure alignment between data reporting and organizational goals, including fundraising and compliance.
Partnership Development and External Relations
Cultivate and strengthen relationships with school boards, government agencies and community partners.
Identify and secure new partnership opportunities to enhance program reach and sustainability.
Manage partnership agreements and lead key external meetings and joint initiatives.
Other duties as assigned by the Director.
Education, Skills and Requirements
Post-secondary education in education, program administration, social sciences, or a related field
Minimum 5 - 7 years of experience in program leadership, evaluation and system improvement
Strong understanding of systems thinking and continuous improvement approaches.
Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills
Demonstrative experience in participatory evaluation methods and community engagement
Proficient in Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), Power BI and SharePoint
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting to diverse audiences
Knowledge of the Ontario curriculum and school board operations is considered an asset.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional work and build collaborative relationships
Experience in a nonprofit or public sector setting is an asset
Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for work
