Role Objectives
The Senior Manager, Shelter Operations and Program plays a crucial role in advancing JMMF's mission to break the cycle of domestic violence. This position oversees key operational aspects, including OHS programs, volunteer management, facility maintenance, and strategic initiatives. Working collaboratively with the Executive Director and other leadership team members, you will drive innovation, ensure operational excellence, and support the organization's growth and impact.
The Senior Manager, Shelter Operations and Programs is a visionary leader who champions innovation, drives measurable results, and cultivates high-performing, empowered teams. This position is responsible for leading from a feminist perspective, centring equity, inclusion, and collaboration in all aspects of operations and strategy at the Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation.

As a collaborative member of the leadership team, you will work closely with the Executive Director and colleagues to ensure operational excellence, strategic alignment, and continuous improvement across all programs and initiatives.
Leadership and Program Development
Inspire and Empower Teams:
Provide visionary leadership, support, and guidance for facility maintenance, inventory, programming at Jessie's House and Eileen's Place, and community-based client outreach--ensuring all team members are empowered to contribute ideas and drive program excellence.
Champion Inclusive Recruitment and Growth:
Lead innovative recruitment, onboarding, retention, and staff development practices, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. Support all aspects of human resource management as directed by the Executive Director, modelling a feminist, equity-driven approach.
Collaborate for Strategic Impact:
Partner with the Executive Director and Senior Manager, Community Impact and Education, to implement strategic projects that advance organizational priorities and create meaningful change.
Drive Program Innovation:
Develop, lead, and oversee the implementation of all programs at Jessie's House and Eileen's Place, ensuring they are responsive to emerging needs, informed by evidence, and promote empowerment and equity for clients and staff.
Foster Financial Sustainability:
Support the development and management of program budgets and financial sustainability plans, encouraging creative solutions and new models for resource generation.
Advance Strategic and Operational Plans:
Ensure the successful execution of strategic and operational plans, translating vision into actionable, measurable outcomes.
Operational Management
Optimize Operations for Excellence:
Oversee facility maintenance and operational efficiency at Jessie's House and Eileen's Place, ensuring environments are safe, welcoming, and conducive to innovation.
Lead with Foresight:
Manage contract negotiations, annual facility budgets, and develop a forward-thinking 5-year facility maintenance plan.
Mitigate Risks Proactively:
Conduct risk assessments and implement innovative mitigation strategies to safeguard clients, staff, and operations.
Champion Safety and Compliance:
Support the implementation of OHS and AHS policies and procedures, ensuring comprehensive training and a culture of safety.
Strategic Planning and Innovation

Actively participate in strategic and business planning, bringing creative ideas and a collaborative spirit to the table.
Lead Program Evolution:
Guide ongoing program development, ensuring input from staff, clients, and Indigenous voices is valued and integrated.

Design and implement project plans and tools that ensure successful, timely, and impactful program delivery.

Lead the development of outcome and evaluation frameworks, ensuring programs at Jessie's House and Eileen's Place meet Foundation and funder mandates, and that results are communicated clearly to stakeholders.
Foster a Culture of Learning:
Facilitate ongoing learning, innovation, and storytelling within the organization, encouraging reflection and continuous improvement.
Mandatory Requirements
Ability to travel frequently to Morinville, within Sturgeon County and St Albert
Clear Police Security/vulnerable sector check and Child Intervention Check
Valid First Aid certification
Excellent personal and professional boundaries
Adhere to JMMF policies and procedures
Outstanding work ethic

Education and Experience
Master's degree in social work, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience and 5 years of frontline service delivery in social services or related field
Experience in program evaluation, risk management, and facility operations
Strong understanding of domestic violence issues, trauma-informed practices, and community development
Proven track record in developing and implementing innovative programs and strategies
