Department Overview

The Corporate and Public Affairs (CAPA) department aims to inspire and connect our customers, communities and colleagues through communications, conversations and advocacy that enrich lives, deliver business outcomes and enhance our brand. We deliver best-in-class external and internal communications to help differentiate TD in the market and elevate our brand. We make an impact by helping the business drive growth, realize change, and deliver outcomes, and we protect and enhance TD's reputation by providing expert advice and sound counsel.

We are hiring a Senior Manager, Corporate Communications to support our Transformation, Enablement and Customer Experience businesses who will design and deliver communications programs that elevate TD's customer-focused leadership voice, galvanize our colleagues, and extend our employer brand to create clear market differentiation.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a corporate communications or agency environment, or comparable communications experience.
  • Inclusive approach to leadership and colleague development.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, and a passion for storytelling, especially in the digital space. Ability to take business strategy and turn it into compelling content relevant to all audiences with speed and accuracy.
  • Excellent judgment and proven experience providing communications advice and counsel to senior leaders.
  • Ability to drive an agenda and influence stakeholders to bring about the right outcomes.
  • Proven ability to navigate in a complex or ambiguous environment, managing multiple high-priority projects or deliverables.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex issues which pose significant reputational risk, and understanding of impact to the business, our customers and other key stakeholders.
  • Undergraduate degree or PR/marketing/corporate communications certification, designations, or equivalent required.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

  • Lead a team of professionals who develop and execute external and internal communications for TD's Transformation, Enablement and Customer Experience (TECE) leaders and lines of business.
  • Work in partnership with communications colleagues across the team, in Canada and the US, to identify opportunities to grow our brand in key areas, drive change and colleague engagement and enhance TD's reputation.
  • Build compelling communications programs that engage our colleagues, including for town halls, reward and recognition programs, leadership team meetings and other large-scale internal programs and events.
  • Leverage extensive media relations experience to drive proactive, integrated programs that differentiate TD and capture space. Champion storytelling and customer-centric positioning in all media messaging and across digital channels, including TD owned platforms and other assets.
  • Support the creation of compelling content for public speaking remarks, opinion editorials, sponsored content, social media strategy and other public facing and industry events. Use research and data to inform and analyze results.
  • Lead issues management for assigned businesses, acting as a spokesperson when required and providing business partners, control partners and senior leaders with advice and counsel to effectively manage issues and protect and enhance TD's brand and reputation.
