The Opportunity
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for using their hands-on accounting experience and in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices, to perform accounting activities and financial analyses.
In this role, you will:

  • Support and oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions such as, but not limited to, account coding, reviewing payables, setting up new customer accounts and credit terms, following up on overdue accounts and monthly cash management.
  • Provide full-cycle accounting, including preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual working papers and playing a key role in the financial close ensuring DP World timeline requirements are met.
  • Assist the finance team to prepare accurate, timely and reliable monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS, including necessary reporting.
  • Prepare and enter journal entries, analyze and complete month-end revenue and expense accruals on all business streams and provide month-end reconciliations from the sub-ledger to the GL.
  • Assist in the facilitation of global reporting requirements including supporting statutory audits and internal audits
  • Positively drive agreed initiatives, propose new initiatives and adopt a sense of continuous improvement.

What you bring to the role:

  • A degree in Finance or Accounting, combined with your CPA (CA, CGA, CMA) designation.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience post-designation, preferably in industry.
  • Experience with MS Great Plains, Agresso and Maximo systems are assets.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills, including the ability to work with all departments and levels.
  • Sound judgement and analytical thinking that enables decision making, ability to manage projects and prioritize and manage timelines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships and achieve buy in and ownership to quality standards/ initiatives.
  • Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries.
  • Fluent in English.
