Mogo is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This individual will report to the Assistant Controller and work independently on projects and more complex areas of our accounting. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, have a passion for process improvement and be an excellent team player. What you\'ll do:
Take a lead role on more complex accounting areas including implementing & updating policies, preparation of supporting schedules, and preparing journal entries
Preparing and reviewing working papers and memos for quarterly review and annual audits
Support monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting including preparation of supporting schedules for external reporting (e.g. quarterly and annual MD&A and financial statements)
Perform detailed analysis of accounting results against budgets and forecast to support decision making
Assisting with management\xe2\x80\x99s evaluation of internal controls for SOX compliance, including maintaining process documentation and monitoring effectiveness of controls
Project manage process improvement projects & system implementations
Mentor & coach more junior members of the accounting and finance team
Act as a brand ambassador for Mogo, regularly using Mogo products, sharing the brand with friends and family, and providing feedback to the team for improvements
What you\'ll need:
Designated CPA (or international equivalent) or close to designating, Financial services industry experience is definitely an asset
Progressive work experience in Accounting with experience leading projects, system integrations or process improvement initiatives
Bonus points if you have experience in a multi-entity public company, SOX and IFRS reporting. Big 4 experience is a plus.
Advanced MS Excel skills; Strong working knowledge of Great Plains, Quickbooks, and Netsuite is an asset
Quick learner and comfortable with shifting priorities
Demonstrable ability to juggle priorities
Exceptional analytical and decision making skills and the ability to understand complex accounting issues
Demonstrated leadership (coaching and mentoring of more junior staff)
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
