We currently have an exciting position for a Senior Accountant that will be responsible for providing support to the Financial Accounting Services team as well as the business through a combination of strong technical accounting acumen, process and control experience, high degree of accuracy, timeliness and customer service. The position also requires excellent critical thinking, attention to detail, project management and communication skills as well as a passion for process improvement.

  • Supports month end, quarter end and annual close activities
  • Supports Finance and the Business by providing visibility to results through monthly reporting and analytical review
  • Timely review of assigned account reconciliations and identification of any potential risks and recommended actions/solutions
  • Timely determination and preparation of manual journal entries ensuring adequate supporting documentation to meet compliance needs
  • Supports the Division's regulatory and tax compliance requirements including income taxes
  • Creates, if required, and maintains narratives and training manuals on owned processes
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls and policies and proposes adjustments where required
  • Assists in analyzing complex and new transactions ensuring it is appropriately accounted, documented and implemented
  • Represents Finance's interest in Company's strategic projects working with manager to ensure appropriate accounting, controls and reporting are implemented
  • Identifies, proposes and drives process improvements and efficiencies through
  • Assists with preparation of ad-hoc financial analysis as required
  • Assists with the Division's budgeting process as required
  • Supports the internal and external auditors, Corporate Accounting team, consultants, other business and divisional units as required
  • Supports the Controller and the Finance Leadership team as required
Qualifications
  • University or College degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related discipline
  • CPA with minimum 3-4 years of work experience from one of the big six auditing firms or similar experience preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and controls
  • Excellent analytical, research and communication skills required
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (macros, Power Query) preferred
  • Income tax experience an asset
