The Adult Recreation Therapy Centre (ARTC) is a not-for-profit community support service located in Brantford and Brant County. The ARTC provides therapeutic and recreational programs and services of interest to meet the needs of older adults and adults with morbidities, and chronic conditions associated with aging.
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic S.A.F.E. Zone Program Coordinator to join our team. The S.A.F.E. Zone Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of ARTC's community based congregate exercise and falls prevention program referred to as S.A.F.E. Zone. The S.Z. Program Coordinator oversees delivery and administration involved in the execution of the S.Z. program, this includes leading classes, supervising & coordinating certified senior exercise instructors and working with community partners.
Responsibilities Include:
Coordination and supervision of all employees of S.Z., following policies and procedures in place.
Interviewing, hiring, and training new employees, students, and volunteers.
Schedule programs and sites. Providing direction, coordination, and evaluation to ensure delivery of evidence-based interventions to improve balance, strength, flexibility, and coordination.
Stay current on research and trends in falls prevention, exercise, and community resources.
Conduct performance appraisals, progressive discipline, and direct supervision of employees.
Address complaints and resolve concerns as they arise, keeping apprised the Director of Operations.
Maintain good communication with senior leadership at ARTC, participating on the Leadership team . Reporting directly to the Director of Operations.
Manage referrals and participant documentation.
Complete and submit required documentation in a timely manner.
Stock program supplies and materials as needed.
Ensure all activities comply with relevant safety guidelines and protocols.
Maintain good relationship with community organizations representing ARTC & S.Z. in the community.
Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Kinesiology or related field (Professional Registration an asset).
- Experience and knowledge working with older adults and adults with morbidities.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of various medical conditions and treatments.
- Familiarity with local community supports and resources
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
-Current Vulnerable Sector Police Screening
- Current First Aid/CPR certified
-Computer Skills, including Microsoft Office, Activity Pro, Zoom, EMHware (an asset)
- Organizational and time management skills
-Problem solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess situations and prioritize work
