GEM's mission is to advance gender equity and enhance economic opportunities by providing personalized career mentorship and hands-on learning to female high school students navigating socio-economic challenges. Through mentorship, GEM supports young women to envision their full potential and take effective action toward their academic and professional goals.

In collaboration with our community, partners, and a network of passionate volunteers, GEM delivers impactful mentorship, skill-building workshops, professional development activities (GEMinars), scholarships, internships, and innovative research on mentorship solutions for high school girls. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dedicated and organized Program Coordinator to join our dynamic team.

Position Overview

As GEM's Program Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting and expanding our mentorship programming. Reporting to the mentee lead, you will help ensure the seamless delivery of our initiatives, directly impacting the lives of young women across our community.

Key Responsibilities

Program Support: Collaborate with Program Leads to support the delivery of the GEM program through tasks such as outreach, recruitment, and screening of mentors and mentees. Provide key coordination to facilitate effective mentor-mentee matching and sustained program engagement. Event Coordination: Support the planning and execution of program events, including GEMinars, enrichment activities, and scholarship opportunities. Issue invitations, register attendees, and provide on-site event support as needed. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to program evaluation and reporting, helping GEM refine and enhance its offerings. Youth Council & Internship Coordination: Provide guidance, resources, and coordination for the Hamilton Youth Council and Junior Intern, fostering leadership skills and meaningful participation in GEM initiatives. Organize regular check-ins, facilitate learning opportunities, and assist youth-led projects and council meetings. Administrative Support: Administer email communications for general and program-specific inquiries, oversee scheduling, track survey participation, support program reporting, document meetings, and maintain orderly records

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum 2 years of experience in administrative, event planning, and program coordination role. Undergraduate degree or diploma in a relevant field (youth/gender studies, social work, education, or related disciplines preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, SharePoint (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). Experience in the not-for-profit or charitable sector is an asset. Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Quick learner with a collaborative spirit and a growth mindset. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the ability to work effectively with diverse communities. Experience in the not-for-profit or charitable sector is an asset.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience.
