2. Cash & Sales Handling
Operate cash registers, POS systems and process sales accurately
Maintain records of transactions and balanced cash drawers at closing
Issue receipts, process refunds, and handle debit/credit transactions
3. Merchandising & Inventory
Receive, unpack, and price new stock
Organize displays to reflect seasonal themes or promotions
Monitor inventory levels and assist with restocking when needed
4. Shop Maintenance & Presentation
Keep the store tidy, clean, and visually appealing
Arrange products neatly and ensure shelves are fully stocked
Handle light cleaning duties (dusting, sweeping, wiping counters)
5. Knowledge of the Shop's Purpose
Share the story behind items, especially local crafts or museum-related pieces
Promote fundraising items or special collections (especially in nonprofit settings)
Encourage donations or memberships if tied to a cause or museum
6. Administrative & Support Tasks
Assist with inventory audits and ordering supplies
Prepare sales reports or assist with end-of-day reconciliation
Collaborate with other departments (curator, admin, volunteers, etc.)
7. Event or Promotion Assistance
Help coordinate gift shop sales during special events or holidays
Support marketing by suggesting items for features or social media posts
Decorate the shop or windows to match upcoming campaigns
8. Office Administration and Support
Perform general administrative tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, and managing correspondence.
Maintain and organize office files, records, and documents.
Assist with scheduling meetings, preparing meeting materials, taking minutes, and supporting the preparation of reports and presentations.
9. Comprehensive Knowledge and Coordination
Provide information about the ship and the Canadian Naval Memorial Trust to visitors, enhancing their overall experience.
Assist with event planning and coordination for Trust-related activities and functions, demonstrating a willingness to learn and share knowledge about Canadian naval history.
10. Skill Development:
Attend lectures, participate in a reading/study program, and engage in hands-on practical activities to continually enhance knowledge and tour guiding skills.
Practice and refine guided tour techniques through training sessions and on-the-job experience.
11. Supervisory:
Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor based on organizational needs and priorities.

Pay: $15.20-$17.20 per hour
