This is a temporary, 10-month position in the Peter Guo-hua Fu School of Architecture, supporting the ReCONstruct project led by Prof. Michael Jemtrud. ReCONstruct is a five-year applied research project to develop a scalable, turn-key mass building climate retrofit program within Quebec in response to the climate emergency.

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, plans and executes laboratory projects and experiments. Performs technical tasks in the field of biology, chemistry, physiology, etc. Selects and modifies methodology. Analyses and interprets data. Acts as resource person, resolves problems and instructs others. Participates in manuscript preparation. Maintains equipment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plans and executes laboratory projects and experiments within objectives set by supervisor. Performs literature searches, reviews, selects and modifies methodology.
• Compiles experimental and analytical data. Prepares reports. Analyses and discusses results and their interpretation with others. Participates in devising new methodology. Maintains records and files.
• Acts as resource person, resolves problems and instructs others. Provides technical guidance and assistance concerning work methods, the use of equipment and techniques, and the analysis of results.
• Participates in the preparation of material for publication or presentation. Prepares graphs, tables, lists of references, and descriptions of procedures.
• Keeps abreast of new developments in the field to update skills and knowledge.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

• Undergraduate degree in Architecture
• Experience in public engagement
• Experience in industry consultation and/or liaising with industry partners
• Experience supporting communication strategies and maintaining public communication platforms
• Familiarity or experience working with public sector building portfolio owners and/or managers, such as public housing, school boards, municipal or civic buildings, etc.
• Familiarity with Quebec building stock
• Experience with multi-criteria frameworks
• Experience with life-cycle-assessment (LCA) or "cradle-to-cradle" assessment
• Experience with product design or UI/UX design
• Fluent use of the following software:: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit
• Fluent in French and English

Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree - Biology 2 Years Related Experience /

Hourly Salary: (MUNACA Level 12B) $25.64 - $35.37
