ECO Canada is looking for a performance-driven individual to join the team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Director of Research, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role on the research team in conducting labour market research and stakeholder engagement. As a key member of the Research team, the Research Communications Intern will be responsible for supporting research on occupational standards development and fostering relationships with external stakeholders. The specific duties performed by the research communications intern will be determined by the current phase of each research project and the priority of research tasks. While each member of ECO Canada has individual responsibilities, ECO takes a team-based approach. Everyone is encouraged to take ownership of their ideas and to see them through to completion, collaborating with key influencers as required. Responsibilities

  • Leading stakeholder engagement activities, including conducting outreach to subject matter experts and facilitating the collection of feedback through written submissions and interviews.
  • This role requires public relations and marketing skills to effectively promote the organization\'s mission, products, or services to stakeholders. This includes lead prospecting and cold calling.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential. You should be able to convey information clearly and persuasively to various audiences, including stakeholders, community members, and colleagues.
  • The ability to adapt to changing circumstances, stakeholder dynamics, and emerging issues is crucial in stakeholder outreach. Flexibility is key.
  • Many stakeholder outreach efforts require collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders themselves. Being a team player and working well with others is crucial.
  • Tracking and measuring the effectiveness of outreach efforts and being able to report on outcomes to stakeholders and management. This often involves using key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
  • Awareness of legal and ethical considerations related to stakeholder engagement, data privacy, and compliance is essential.
  • Conducting job postings analysis to inform research team members on the knowledge, skills, and abilities of environmental occupations.
  • Researching, reviewing, compiling, and editing project documents.
  • Attending research team meetings.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications and Education
  • Bachelor\'s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience and education.
  • A minimum of one year of experience conducting stakeholder outreach is an asset.
  • Demonstrated success in coordinating and executing a variety of creative, persuasive, and effective communications.
  • Excellent communication skills (reading, listening, writing, etc.).
  • Experience in communicating complex scientific and technical concepts.
  • Experience with MS Office is essential.
  • Fluent in English \xe2\x80\x93 Fluency in French is considered an asset.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and a positive attitude.
