A full-time position is available in the research laboratory of Dr. Carolyn Baglole, at the Research Institute of McGill University Health Centre in Montreal, Canada. Research in the Baglole lab focuses on mechanisms of lung disease pathogenesis caused by inhalational exposures. Dr. Baglole has numerous collaborations with research groups across Canada and the world that allow access to patient-derived samples and specialized techniques.The ideal candidate for this position will be highly motivated, organized and have the ability to independently plan and implement experiments using cell lines, mouse models, and molecular assays for studying mechanisms of lung diseases.The incumbent will be part of a team that is involved in several projects including the collection and processing of human-derived samples, management of mouse colonies, inhalation exposures using specialized equipment, and molecular biology experiments and analysis.General Duties

• Assist with the management of the day-day laboratory operations, including (but not limited to) ordering, keeping inventory, and routine equipment maintenance
• Design and perform studies (including optimization and development of experimental procedures) as well as analyze data
• Maintain and manage breeding stocks of mouse colonies
• Record results, perform calculations and compile data
• Train students and/or post-doctoral fellows
• Maintain databases, SOPs and protocol applications (e.g., biohazard, animal use protocols)
• Collaborate with other lab members as well as external collaborators and co-investigators
• Assist with the preparation of reports, manuscripts and grant applications

Field of Study: Biology/Life Sciences or related field
Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Lab Manager or Research Associate.Required Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision
• Experience managing mouse colonies/conducting animal experimentation
• Excellent organization, time management skills and attention to detail.
• Be self-directed
• Maintenance, generation and utilization of inducible conditional knockout mouse models would be considered an asset.
• Proficiency in primary cell culture and molecular biology techniques
• Good computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as scientific programs (animal management software, GraphPad/Prism).

Pay Scale: $54,327.00 to $100,882.60. Commensurate with education and experience
