The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. This posting is for a Research Associate who will work under the supervision of Dr. Louise Pilote. The Research Associate will work on and manage the day-to-day operations of multiple projects. The Research Associate will take leadership of the team, identify funding opportunities, and contribute to building a grant application.General Duties
Role and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with principal investigators to design and implement projects focused on sex and gender-related factors in cardiovascular diseases and in women\'s vascular health through the life span
  • Participates in local, national and international collaborations
  • Establishes research methods, designs protocol, advances research and breaks new grounds
  • Supports and supervise members of the lab with their research projects
  • Troubleshoots research issues and resolves problems in design
  • Develops models and runs simulations
  • Reviews and evaluates research findings and determines results, prepares reports and manuscripts
  • Prepares submissions to the Research Ethics Board/Contracts
  • Contributes to the preparation of grant applications,
  • Assists with reports, manuscripts, and grant proposals, data entry, management and analysis
  • Completion of other study related tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator
Administrative Duties
  • Is responsible for various administrative tasks (including budgets, management of meetings, minute-taking)
  • Assists in the preparation of scientific presentations for Dr. Pilote
  • Assists in abstract and manuscript online submissions
  • Keeps updated documents such as Dr Pilote\'s academic CV, list of ongoing projects and timelines, submitted abstracts and submitted articles
  • Provides help in hiring PhD and Postdoctoral trainees, summer students
  • Provides training to new recruits, students and staff
  • Participates in group meetings and in the general day-to-day management of research projects
  • Accomplishes any other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor

  • Field of Study: in health-related field, a specialization in Epidemiology would be an asset
Work Experience: 5 years of experienceRequired Skills
  • Preferably with a Ph.D. degree in health-related field, a specialization in Epidemiology would be an asset
  • Prior experience as a post-doctoral researcher, research assistant, or research associate
  • Experience in project coordination and management
  • Experience in data analysis and statistics
  • Solid experience in scientific writing (peer-review publications and grant applications)
  • Excellent competencies in oral and written communication skills in French and in English
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Excellent organizational skills, rigor
  • Ability to take initiative, set priorities, time-manage, and resolve problems
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, EndNote)
  • Excellent statistical software skills (e.g. SPSS, SAS, Stata or other)
Additional informationStatus: Temporary, full time (35 hours/week)
Pay Scale: $54,327.00 - $100,882.60 Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm
