Position Overview

The Department of Community Health Sciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Associate. This Part-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Principal Investigator.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Coordinate research team activities (e.g., research ethics, meetings, minutes, project reports)

Develop chart review manuals and data collection

Lead OMOP data pipeline protocol development

Develop and manage partnerships with project investigators and collaborators, and draft manuscripts for publication

Lead manscript writing

Assist with plans and designs for specialized applications to meet the needs of operations, research, and services

Produce initial drafts of manuscripts for publication and appropriate scientific journals

Conduct literature and systematic review, surveys, data analysis and interpretation, laboratory experiments and other research for use in scholarly publications

Coordinate all research team activities and major communications

Extract data from published literature

Liaise with dashboard users, create and manage relationships with stakeholders

Supports manuscript preparation and submission

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A Masters-level or PhD-level degree in epidemiology, public health, or similar
  • Strong knowledge of epidemiology, epidemiological study design, and standard biostatistical analysis techniques; experience with chart review is a particular asset
  • Experience coordinating research projects and teams is required
  • Experience conducting systematic reviews is required
  • Experience with R, tidyverse, and RMarkdown is an asset
  • Experience with REDCap is an asset
  • Experience with OMOP Common Data Model is an asset
  • Exceptional communication and coordination skills is required
  • 3 to 5 years of related technical experience within the research specialty field
  • 1 to 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to perform detailed design, documentation, and implementation of moderately complex technological systems
  • Ability to provide technical support for other team members through advice on technical issues
  • Direct and demonstrable research experience in the subject matter of the research project is essential
  • Perform detailed design, documentation, and implementation of moderately complex technological systems
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet skills
  • Knowledge of University core business systems is desirable
