We are currently seeking a QC Manager with experience in the nutraceutical industry to join our growing team at Herbaland, located in Richmond, BC.
Summary
  • The QC Manager position ensures that quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with legislation and customer specifications. This individual manages the organization\xe2\x80\x99s quality assurance policies and controls new product development processes. The QC Manager position will also establish performance standards, procedures, and audit controls in order to meet business requirements, as well as Identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and food safety and quality of company operations.

  • The QC Manager is responsible for developing and implementing quality control procedures that comply with Health Canada regulations and guidelines. These procedures include testing the raw materials, in-process products, and finished products for their purity, potency, and composition.

  • Conducting analytical testing: The QC Manager oversees the analytical testing of raw materials, in-process products, and finished products to ensure they meet the company\'s quality standards. This includes testing for contaminants like heavy metals, pesticides, and microbial contaminants.

  • Maintaining accurate records: The QC Manager is responsible for maintaining accurate records of all testing and quality control procedures performed and documenting any deviations from the standard procedures.

  • Training employees: The QC Manager is responsible for training employees on quality control procedures and ensuring they follow them correctly.

  • Investigating and resolving quality issues: The QC Manager investigates any quality issues that arise and works to resolve them, including identifying the root cause of the problem and implementing corrective and preventive actions to prevent similar issues from occurring in the future.

  • Liaising with regulatory agencies: The QC Manager works with regulatory agencies, such as Health Canada, to ensure that the company complies with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
5+ years of experience in a vitamin supplement company in a GMP/ NSF certified Manufacturing environment (i.e. natural health product, pharma or food industries).
Requirements
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Chemistry, Pharmacology, Food Science, or related fields obtained by a recognized University.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct work experience with QC systems, regulations, guidelines, and associated standards in a Natural Health Products (Vitamins, Supplements etc.) manufacturing facility.
  • Experience in NFS, Organic, Gluten Free, Halal, Kosher, CFIA, FDA, and Health Canada audits
  • Must possess excellent communication skills for liaising and communicating with vendors, customers, and internal departments.
  • Practical experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies, and control plans.
  • Training and knowledge of Six Sigma techniques and Lean Manufacturing are desirable.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and analytical thinker.
  • Able to interface directly with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents.
  • Able to develop, review, and maintain metrics and quality audits.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and government agencies.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Passion for continuous improvement, efficiency, and teamwork.
