Reporting to the Manager, Housing Operations, the Property Management Assistant provides administrative support to Property Managers for the day-to-day property management of city-owned affordable and community housing units. The Property Management Assistant (PMA) will be familiar with the Housing Services Act and Residential Tenancies Act. This includes the determination of ongoing eligibility for rent-geared-to-income assistance, tenant placement and rent-geared-to-income subsidies for tenants, accounts receivable and payable support by receiving rent payments and processing invoices for payment. The PMA will also provide property management administrative support for a private non-profit housing corporation.

QUALIFICATIONS



Ontario Secondary School Diploma showing successful completion of Grade 12 or provincial equivalent. Minimum two-year diploma from a public post secondary institution in office administration, business, accounting or other relevant program. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Demonstrated knowledge of Rent-Geared-to-Income legislation, policies and procedures. Demonstrated mathematical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including: Windows, and Excel. Demonstrated experience with the Yardi Property Management System. Knowledge of relevant social housing legislation (e.g., Housing Services Act), regulations, Service Manager local rules, and procedures related to social housing in general. Experience in interpreting and applying Residential Tenancies Act and Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA). Strong interpersonal and communications skills with excellent customer service are required to deal effectively with clients. Excellent organizational skills. This position requires respect for confidentiality, human rights and the dignity of clients.

WAGE/SALARY RANGE:

$32.11 to $34.04 per hour (based on a 35 hour work week) plus benefits.
