About the Role
The
Community Engagement & Project Coordinator
is a key member of the Status of Women Council of the Northwest Territories (the "Council"). This role is responsible for coordinating projects, programs, and community engagement initiatives that advance the Council's mission of supporting women and promoting gender equality across the territory.
The Coordinator will lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of projects while also building community connections, supporting events, and managing communications that raise awareness of women's issues. The position requires strong project management, communication, and relationship-building skills, together with cultural competency and a commitment to empowering women and communities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
Develop project proposals, funding applications, and budgets in alignment with Council priorities.
Plan, implement, and evaluate projects, ensuring deliverables are achieved on time and within budget.
Monitor project progress, identify challenges, and recommend solutions.
Prepare reports, briefing notes, and documentation for internal and external audiences.
Community Engagement & Development
Coordinate and deliver Council initiatives such as Family Violence Prevention activities, Wise Women Awards, and community-based programs.
Build and maintain strong networks with partners, service providers, and organizations.
Maintain updated databases of stakeholders, programs, and services relevant to women's issues.
Provide information and referrals as requested, and monitor reports, statistics, and trends related to gender equality.
Marketing & Communications
Manage the Council's online presence, including website content, social media, and digital campaigns.
Draft promotional materials and resources in line with Council protocols.
Maintain a calendar of notable dates relevant to women locally, nationally, and internationally.
Represent the Council at public speaking engagements, workshops, and events.
Organizational Support
Contribute to the design, delivery, and evaluation of programs and services.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to support Council projects, events, and strategic priorities.
Carry out additional duties reasonably required to advance organizational goals.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree or college diploma in a relevant field (e.g., Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Project Management, Communications).
Proven experience in project management, including planning, budgeting, implementation, and evaluation.
Experience in event coordination and community engagement.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, deliver presentations, and facilitate workshops.
Knowledge of community engagement strategies and gender equality issues (preferred).
Experience working in emotionally charged environments while maintaining professionalism and boundaries (preferred).

Willingness to travel within the NWT, including to remote communities, sometimes in challenging conditions.

Extended periods of computer work, meetings, and at times, public speaking.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $78,000.00-$84,000.00 per year
