Established in 2020, ISUP advances the study of university pedagogy. In collaboration with faculty, staff , and students across UTM, we support the development of students\' academic skills through courses, consultations, workshops and programs. We also support faculty pedagogy and the scholarship of teaching and learning through programming and one-on-one consultations. These offerings are informed by our commitment to innovative, inclusive, and accessible pedagogy.ISUP\'s faculty and staff support the Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre (RGASC); the Teaching & Learning Collaboration; utmONE, utmONE Scholars, and Foundational Skills courses; and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).Your opportunity:
Within ISUP, the Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre (RGASC) is a hub for academic skills development on the University of Toronto Mississauga campus. The mandate of the RGASC is to support and promote teaching and learning in a range of contexts across theUniversity of Toronto Mississauga. For students, the RGASC is a resource for developing academic skills through individual appointments and group-based initiatives that help students identify and develop the academic skills they need for success in theirstudies. For instructional staff and faculty, the Centre is a partner in teaching and learning activities. These activities include course and program design, implementation and assessment of a given intervention\'s impact.Faculty and staff appointed to the RGASC have a range of specializations, including academic peer support, academic writing instruction, educational development, English language learning, numeracy, scientific literacy, and supplemental instruction. This diversity of experience and expertise enables the Centre to collaborate productively with partners from across the disciplines and campus, who bring with them a varied and diverse set of teaching and learning objectives.Working collaboratively with the RGASC Director and staff, the program administrator provides administrative support for student and instructor programming and workshops offered through the Academic Skills Centre (i.e. Faciliates Study Groups, Promoting Academic Skills for Success). The incumbent will assist in coordinating schedules, booking rooms, updating program information and tracking enrollment. They will also assist in recruiting and training casual and work study staff and act as a resource for those support RGASC programming.Your responsibilities will include:Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriateDetermining logistical details and activities for events and/or programmingTracking and monitoring enrollments and informing management of enrollment numbersCoordinating the preparation and distribution of program and/or course materialDisseminating program informationProviding detailed information on eligibility requirements, procedures and deadlinesImplementing methods of practice and related processes to support the delivery of programmingMaintaining information on a websiteEssential Qualifications:Bachelor\'s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.Minimum two years of relevant administrative experience, preferably in a post-secondary education environmentExperience providing front-line client services, preferably in a student facing environmentDemonstrated experience coordinating programs, workshops, schedules, room bookings and timetablesAdvanced skills in MS Office Suite, file management systems (i.e. SharePoint), learning management systems (i.e. Quercus) and ZoomStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise good judgment in dealing with faculty, staff and studentsAbility to work in a collaborative environment that requires multi-tasking, managing competing demands and adaptabilityExcellent judgment and diplomacy on confidential issuesExperience coordinating and working with large groups of work study or casual staffAssets (Nonessential):Experience coordinating co-curricular programsExperience with peer mentoring or supplementary instruction programsDemonstrated knowledge of content management systems (i.e. Drupal)To be successful in this role you will be:ApproachableCommunicatorCooperativeMulti-taskerProactiveTeam playerThis role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to theThis is a one year term appointment ending August 2025.Closing Date: 08/29/2024, 11:59PM ET
