Your opportunity:
The Technoscience Research Unit (TRU) is an Indigenous-led and interdisciplinary hub for creative and critical social science, humanities, and design research concerning science and technology, with a strength in Indigenous-led research, environmental justice, and data/AI ethics. The TRU is affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Science, the Faculty of Information, and the Acceleration Consortium. The TRU hosts an Indigenous Environmental Data Justice (EDJ) Lab, which does community-based work, organizes public events and workshops, and supports the research of students, faculty and community researchers. The administration of TRU is with the Department of History. The TRU is particularly dedicated to fostering Indigenous Science and Technology Studies as well as supporting BIPOC, 2SLGBTQA+, and community researchers. (TRU) is committed to supporting individuals in enhancing their skills for contributing to the work of our indigenous community based research.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator , the Research and Program Administrator will be responsible for day-to-day administration and management of research grants, the preparation of grants for a research community that is collaborative and involves Indigenous community based methods. The position works with oversight of the Department Manager, in the Department of History on financial and administrative activities.
This position has responsibility for coordinating research management activities, and coordinating and preparing research grant applications, tracking milestones and deadlines. Work includes facilitating communication between research participants, providing administrative support to the research activities , budgeting and financial processing, creating contracts and timesheets for casual staff, preparing expense reimbursements. The incumbent also prepares standard reports to assist the Principal Investigators with financial planning and reconciling.
