People and Culture Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment and Selection

  • Manage and lead a collaborative recruiting and scheduling team that can meet the demands of a growing company
  • Rewrite job descriptions as necessary; analyze compensation and monitor the performance evaluation program and suggest revisions as needed
  • Implement new sourcing methods
  • Coordinate with Branch Operations team to forecast future hiring needs
  • Design, oversee, and implement advertising campaigns for recruiting
  • Design and oversee systems to track the success of our various advertising programs
  • Oversee and ensure that all employees are licensed according to the relevant statute
  • Ensure that all new and existing security officers are uniformed and inventory levels are kept at appropriate levels
  • Hire and manage the staff of the local HR department
  • Ensure current and prospective employees are provided with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits
  • Oversee the evaluation, classification, and ratings of job positions
Performance Management
  • Define consistent data-driven metrics and goals for the People and Culture team
  • Advise on complex human resources topics such as progressive discipline, investigations, terminations, performance management, workers\' compensation, and benefits.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure successful implementation of HR Metrics is achieved according to individual departmental needs and goals
  • Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates
  • Assist managers when necessary in providing disciplinary or motivational discussions
  • Performs termination interviews in conjunction with the relevant manager and ensures all relevant paperwork is completed in a timely manner with payroll advised for processing
  • Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, terminating employees, and administering disciplinary procedures
Learning, Development and Career Planning
  • In close partnership with the senior leadership team, continue to strengthen a high-performance culture through effective organizational design, employee and leadership development and HR practices
  • Analyzes training needs to enhance employee development
  • Oversees and administers pre-assignment and in-service training programs
Employee Care and Retention
  • Support employees and managers through all WorkSafe BC claims
  • Effectively balance employee and company interests to manage risks and create a positive employee relations environment
  • Ensure exit interviews are performed to determine the experience of departing employees and assembling the relevant data into monthly reports, with recommended changes in employee relations to the Director, People & Culture
  • Administer compensation, benefits, and performance management systems
  • Ensure the HR department serves as a link between management and employees by handling questions and helping resolve work-related problems
  • Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff relating to employment, compensation, and employee relations
  • Analyze statistical data and reports to identify and determine causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvement of organization\'s personnel policies and practices
  • Participate in the preparation of departmental budget process and follow the budget once approved
Company Brand and Culture
  • Oversee the orientation process for all new employees by establishing a strong and informative orientation that fosters a positive attitude towards organizational objectives
  • Design and implement new employee orientation program for administrative, office and managerial staff
  • Oversee and administers the Employee Recognition programs
  • Foster an open-door policy for all employees
Compliance and Legal
  • Work in conjunction with the Director of People and Culture to review and investigate all Employment Standards and Human Rights claims and represent the company\xe2\x80\x99s interests in all claim processes
  • Liaise and assist as needed any Employment lawyers acting on behalf of the company
  • Proactively identify changes to legislation affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are up to date and compliant with all governing bodies in the province
  • Ensure company policies are communicated, applied, and enforced. This can include advising managers on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes
  • Oversee active and historical human resources employee files by ensuring all relevant employee documentation is accounted for, updated and filed in each employee personnel file
  • Oversees all statutory requirements are met. This includes licensing, training, WCB, Human Rights, and Employment Standards
  • Analyzes and modifies industry compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Education and Experience
  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources and/or an undergraduate degree with a post-graduate degree/diploma or certificate in Human Resources
  • CPHR designation is an asset
  • A minimum of 5 years progressive HR Generalist experience in a variety of human resources functional areas with preference for experience in job/organizational design, job evaluation and compensation
  • Minimum of 3 years managerial experience with a demonstrated history of progressive management responsibilities
  • Experience sourcing candidates using social media (i.e. LinkedIn\xc2\xae)
  • Experience with use of an Applicant Tracking System
