About the Role:



The Payroll Supervisor oversees payroll and benefits administration for unionized and non-union employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role combines hands-on payroll processing with leadership of a small team (0.5 FTE) and continuous improvement of payroll systems and procedures.



Payroll Administration Manage full-cycle payroll for 1,000+ hourly and salaried employees, including unionized staff. Manages Year-End processes to ensure all legislative requirements regarding tax withholding, remittance and income reporting have been made. CPP and EI Reconciliation. Payroll T4 Reconciliation and Year-End Adjustments. T4 and T2200 Issuance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and provincial legislations and payroll and benefit policies and union collective agreements provisions. Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll runs, off-cycle runs, and year-end activities. Review and verify time-off requests, overtime, and terminations; prepare ROEs. Conduct payroll audits, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate records for compliance and audits. Oversee payroll payments, account reconciliations, and union dues reporting in accordance with collective agreements. Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll regulations and union requirements. Administer benefits programs, perform reconciliations, and liaise with providers. Respond to inquiries from employees and external agencies (Service Canada, WCB, ICBC). Develop and implement updates to payroll policies, systems, and procedures. Supervise and support payroll staff; provide training and guidance. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is mandatory. PCP designation is preferred. 5+ years of full-cycle payroll experience, including unionized environments, is required. 2+ years with Ceridian Dayforce; proficiency in Microsoft Office and payroll software, is required. Strong knowledge of payroll laws, taxes, and best practices. Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills. This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule and is a hybrid role (4 days in Office).
