We are hiring a skilled Mould Setup Technician to join our injection molding team in Mississauga, ON. This position is responsible for performing mold and tooling changeovers, setting up injection molding equipment, troubleshooting process issues, and supporting efficient production operations. The Mould Setup Technician plays a key role in maintaining machine performance, ensuring quality compliance, and reducing downtime through expert technical support and preventive maintenance. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, solid troubleshooting skills, and experience in fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environments. Pay starts at: $30 - $33/hr and Shift timings are flexible.
Responsibilities
Set up injection molding machines, molds, and auxiliary equipment to support scheduled production runs.
Conduct first-piece inspections and setup verification to confirm product specifications before production release.
Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives, including 5S, Standardized Work, and process optimization projects.
Monitor process parameters such as cycle times, part weights, pressures, and temperatures to maintain product consistency and efficiency.
Troubleshoot machine and process issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Perform mold, tooling, and material changeovers, including machine start-ups, shutdowns, and lockout procedures.
Support Production and Quality teams in resolving process deviations and maintaining product conformity.
Execute preventive maintenance on molds, tooling, and auxiliary systems to extend equipment life and reduce failures.
Perform in-process inspections and respond promptly to call lights, setup requests, and operator concerns.
Maintain accurate and detailed setup and production records, including mold change logs, audit reports, and shift documentation.
Collaborate with Maintenance, Tooling, and Quality teams to improve machine reliability and process performance.
Operate in full compliance with safety procedures, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout policies.
Qualifications
Proven experience in injection molding setup, processing, and troubleshooting within a manufacturing environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and machine control systems.
Hands-on experience performing mold changeovers, tooling setups, and machine adjustments.
Basic computer literacy for entering production data, recording machine parameters, and maintaining documentation.
Technical training in Mechanical Technology or a Millwright certification (optional).
Familiarity with food or packaging manufacturing processes is preferred.
Exposure to power press or stamping operations is an advantage.
Physically capable of standing for extended periods and performing moderate lifting as part of daily setup tasks.
Willingness to work rotating shifts and adjust to changing production schedules.
Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills with a focus on precision and efficiency.
Excellent teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills across departments.
Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and setup priorities effectively.
