Duties:
Reporting to the Manager, Training Services, the successful candidate will provide both training
expertise and technical insight in support of BC Hydro’s learning management system (LMS) and
training standards. This position is responsible for the design, development, implementation,
delivery, and maintenance of the LMS and the team responsible for establishing and maintaining
authoring and editing standards, overseeing system content and governance standards and
procedures. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about learning technologies and
experienced in working as part of a progressive learning and development department.

The successful candidate will focus on BC Hydro’s transition from three existing LMSs to Success
Factors learning solution. The LMS is one part of a larger delivery to our employees so alignment
and involvement with other teams across the business will be important. Some of the key duties
included, but are not limited to:

  • Plan for, manage and develop the people resources on the Training Systems team which
consists of union and management and professional staff.

  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of Success Factors learning solution.

  • Identify and develop strategies to ensure training system and standards support BC Hydro’s
legal, regulatory and compliance obligations.

  • Liaise with Safety & Compliance, IT, HR and business stakeholders to ensure our learning
solutions and training standards align with our strategic goals and are business appropriate.

  • Accountable for determining governance of the new LMS, working with teams across the
organization to redesign the current processes to align with new system capabilities.

  • Participate in various working groups. Collaborate with others who manage different elements of



the Human Capital Management systems within BC Hydro and the applicable support teams.

  • Prepare and present regular progress reports to Manager, Training Services. This role is also
responsible for contributing to enterprise-wide reporting initiatives.

  • Develop and manage the business plan and budget for the Training Systems department.

  • Lead strategies to influence people leaders to identify, assign and monitor required training to
their workers.

  • Develop and implement a benchmarking process to identify leading training system and
standard practices and measure service performance against appropriate external standards.

  • Responsible for ensuring training systems and standards document management practices align
with record management policies.


Qualifications:


  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Minimum eight (8) years related experience managing a LMS from a business ownership
perspective.

  • Minimum of three (3) years recent related experience in a people leader role.

  • Success Factors and cloud-based learning module management experience and technical
capabilities desired.

  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Sound knowledge of working in a large, complex organization with regulated requirements.
Experience working in a utility environment is an asset.

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings and discussions with diverse groups often with
conflicting needs.

  • Change management experience utilizing effective interpersonal skills and ability to influence
managers and employees, build relationships, facilitate teamwork, and effect change.

  • Well-developed oral and written communication and presentation skills.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • This is a Full-Time Regular (FTR) Management & Professional opportunity headquartered at the
Trades Training Centre in Surrey and will be posted concurrently.

  • A Class 5 driver’s license in good standing is desired, however the work locations are accessible
by public transit. The successful candidate must provide own transportation to and from work.

  • Travel throughout the Lower Mainland may be required, with rare travel throughout the province.

  • As part of the selection process applicants may be required to complete a written test/
assessment or presentation.

Flexible work model role definitions
===========================
Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home
based on the type of work they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for
each position and the operational requirements. Employees also have the right to work full-time
from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person time.

IBEW/Field – No option to work from home
Resident – Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.
Hybrid – May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Remote – Works from home 4+ days per week
