How will you contribute?

The Manager, Application Development and Systems Integration is responsible for the overall planning and execution of the design, development, support, quality assurance, training and management of business systems and applications that support the activities and mission of the Senate.

The incumbent also ensures that all necessary IT security safeguards required to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of applications and systems are implemented and that all work is performed in accordance with industry best practices. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the activities of a team of diverse technical specialists, including programmers, business analysts, database administrators, project advisors, application support specialists, and team leaders.
  • Act as the senior expert and advisor on application architecture.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to the Director on IM/IT strategic directions, orientations, and key initiatives.
  • Manages the delivery of continuous support for mission critical systems during and after regular working hours.
  • Ensure that ongoing technology investments are aligned with the Senate\'s vision, strategic business priorities, and innovation requirements.

The general public to staff one (1) indeterminate (Permanent, Full-time) position in the Information Services Directorate. Prerequisites
  • Recognized post-secondary degree in a relevant field OR an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience;
  • Experience in information technology security, secure application development and risk/threat assessment to ensure that all necessary IT security safeguards are planned, designed, implemented, and tested to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information;
  • Experience in the development and integration of business applications;
  • Experience in providing expert advice to various levels of stakeholders related to complex IT infrastructures and system integrations;
  • Experience in the development and implementation of management frameworks and processes to effectively manage risks and contain costs;
  • Experience in managing projects and maintaining collaborative relationships among a variety of clients, partners, stakeholders and service providers;
  • Experience in leading high performance and cross-functional teams;
  • Experience in drafting briefing materials and technical reports for executive presentations and decision-making purposes;
  • Experience in managing IT procurement processes;
  • Knowledge of principles, concepts, methods and practices governing IT service delivery;
  • Knowledge of complex network environments & their related components and dependencies;
  • Knowledge of trends, developments and leading-edge technologies;
  • Knowledge of IT project management techniques and best practices.
