Position Overview: As Manager, Software Development, you will be a strategic leader directly aligned to Finning's Digital Dealership core business strategy (see link below) reporting to the Director, Digital Productivity Solutions. You will continually improve our service and sales employee experience and safety processes at global scale leveraging best-of-breed PaaS tools (especially Salesforce and Microsoft platforms), and be front and center as part of a team transforming Finning's business.

You will lead continuous improvement of SDLC and agile processes, project releases, resource planning, project set-up and alignment. You will lead a hyper-performing, engaged team and help to create an inspiring and innovative culture that thrives on providing superior customer service, innovation and user experience.

Major Job Functions:

Leadership (30%)

Lead managers of multiple software development teams leveraging best-of-breed platforms to develop global digital productivity solutions, consistently striving to improve the user experience

Lead a team of front-level-leader development leads with an emphasis on Employee Engagement and striving to continuously improve our product development capability maturity and agile processes

Collaborate closely with Product Leader, Testing and Support Leader, Architects, Business Analysts and other DITOE leaders to develop productivity applications

Stakeholder/Vendor Management (20%)

Collaborate closely with Architects, Product Managers, Business Analysts and Software Developers and other internal stakeholders in defining the projects and deliverables

Maintain a close collaborative working relationship across the Digital & IT teams that provides Global Digital Services (GDS) with infrastructure, data security and other technical services

Act as a critical interface to external software vendors and subcontractors in ensuring their work is managed and integrated tightly to serve Finning's business needs and commitments

Managing DevOps requests and stakeholder expectation management

Create presentations, reports and facilitate technical and ideation sessions with stakeholders across various levels within the organization. Serve as the business relationship technical linkage between business leaders and Digital Productivity Solutions group. Build strong relationships across various Finning organizations and Caterpillar in order to deliver successful solutions that meet business needs.

Work closely with the Product Owners and their team to provide technical input on strategic direction

Strategic Planning (25%)

Provide technical leadership in all areas of applications development and integration across a wide range of business and third-party solutions from both a 'hands on' and advisory perspective utilizing multiple toolsets and relevant methodologies.

Keep in touch with industry trends, new products and services; working closely with partners and customers and other Finning employees to identify additional value opportunities to grow the business and represent them in solution development discussions

Create strategies and take an active leadership role in internal capability build-up of software development and systems integration teams to directly enable Finning strategic Bold Goals, especially Service and Sales Excellence and Safety programs.

Collaborate closely with global and regional program management functions in ensuring deliverables will seamlessly be adopted, launched and sustained

Governance and Best Practices (25%)

Facilitate required regular governance with all above mentioned parties and other internal and external stakeholders

Provide leadership for our core software development and low code/declarative capabilities

Champion SDLC and communication to stakeholders and team members.

Accountability:

Development of a highly engaged, happy, skilled and high performing team

Develop and implement software development processes/solutions/tools, training programs, maintaining best practices and enabling teams to be highly self-sufficient

Evaluate and prioritize ideas and tasks to ensure highest value development is completed first

Qualifications:

University master's degree in computer science or other relevant field of engineering, or equivalent experience

Hands-on experience in full lifecycle management of complex software development projects and cloud-based platforms

Experience coaching leaders

10+ years of successful and proven product development experience - preferably in related to cloud services in a global environment

Ability to coach and raise the bar for the development leads and teams

Proven skills at managing complex technical projects from cradle to grave

Excellent consultative communication, presentation, and persuasion skills

Leveraging PaaS toolkits (e.g. Salesforce, Microsoft) to accelerate development

Knowledge:

Understand software development realities, deployment and infrastructure challenges and have an exceptional ability to communicate and simplify complex situations and create recovery plans and actions as needed

Ability to jump in to lead the development teams in solving technical challenges and architecture questions

Analytical abilities, strong judgment and management skills, ability to work effectively with Business and DITOE Leaders.
