Reporting to the Director, Corporate Communications, the Manager of Internal Communications will lead a team responsible for providing best in class internal communications that drives awareness and engagement. The Manager has a passion for internal communications and will lead a small, professional team of communications advisors responsible for the implementation of a robust annual internal communications plan, program and project specific strategies and plans that support Ontario Health\xe2\x80\x99s objectives and inspire our people.



Here is what you will be doing:


  • Lead the implementation of Ontario Health\xe2\x80\x99s internal communications strategy and annual plans, partnering with HR and other leaders and team across the organization;

  • Craft high level communications materials that provide storytelling and consistent narratives to incorporate into all program-specific and related communication;

  • Execute internal communications strategies and initiatives that support organizational objectives positioning Ontario Health as a progressive employer and great place to work;

  • With a team, manage and support organization wide internal communications events such as townhalls and forums;

  • Provide internal communications support to Ontario Health portfolios, program and project teams;

  • Ensure consistent communications while anticipating sometimes conflicting priorities and demands, and future trends, across an ever-evolving complex landscape;

  • Establish relationships with and become a trusted communications advisor to leaders, program teams, and business partners;

  • Monitor and report on the success/learnings of strategies and apply to future work;

  • Innovate using the latest tools, techniques and trends within internal communications and employee engagement;

  • Contribute to the overall goals and objectives of the Communications and Engagement team, delivering on short- and long-term organizational strategies;

  • Direct a team of communications professionals, facilitating teamwork and a customer-focused approach to advising and service delivery;

  • Effectively manage staffing and budgeting functions related to recruitment, retention, performance development and management



Here is what you will need to be successful:



Education and Experience

  • 7+ years of communications experience with progressive experience leading teams preferred;

  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in communications, public relations, marketing or journalism with experience managing deadline driven projects;

  • Experience within a large complex public sector organization with multiple lines of business an asset;

  • Demonstrated experience managing corporate-wide or large-scale projects.



Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience creating internal communications strategies for large, complex organizations;

  • Well versed in communications practices, particularly in the areas of internal communications strategy and planning, and employee engagement;

  • Knowledge and application of industry communications evaluation/measurement approaches and tools;

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor teams to succeed;

  • Flexible and resourceful with the highest degree of professionalism;

  • Calm under pressure with an ability to work flexibly to tight deadlines, as part of a team;

  • Aptitude for problem solving;

  • Ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and frequent changes;

  • Ability to manage multiple programs of work and delegate;

  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills;

  • Experience building consensus among internal stakeholders;

  • Proficient within Office365;

  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.



Employment Type: Permanent full-time 37.5 hours



Paygrade and Zone: 7B



Location: Ontario (currently hybrid; subject to change)
