The Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy brings together people who are passionate about addressing complex challenges. We offer over a dozen interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate programs. As part of the University of Toronto, we are home to exceptional faculty, researchers and staff from around the globe, and over 40 academic centres, labs, and initiatives. The Master of Global Affairs (MGA) program has a mandatoryinternship following completion of the first-year course work. Students are prepared for and connected with internship opportunities in top-tier businesses, international and national institutions and civil-social organizations as part of their trainingto become a new generation of leader in the global milieu.

Reporting to the Program Director, the Manager, Global Internship and Career Placement's main duties include delivering one-on-one guidance and support to MGA students on their internship search strategy and professional profile development; conceiving, developing, organizing and administering a wide range of workshops and sessions in support of the MGA internship program; business development and outreach to global employer partners; overseeing the administration of internship placement agreements; ensuring that all first-year MGA students secure a summer placement; monitoring and evaluating the program to assess students' progress and ensure continual improvement; and providing administrative support for the overall MGA internship program. This position involves coordination and cooperation across the Munk School.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading seminars and/or workshopsto support students' professional development
  • Building and strengthening relationships with global stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Conducting detailed labour market analysis to inform program and global partnership development
  • Promoting programming, student needs and interests to employers and industry contacts
  • Analyzing and recommending actions to improve student and employer engagement with the program
  • Developing plans that support recruitment strategies including creating strategic communications and promotional materials
  • Implementing plans that support the development of work-integrated learning opportunities for students
  • Promoting employer engagement opportunities on campus tostudents
Essential Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Five (5) years' relevant, progressive experience in the public policy industry sector(s) with a focus in relationship management with international partners in the public, private, NGO and not-for-profit sectors
  • Experience in career counselling of students, both domestically and abroad
  • Experience in facilitating job searches
  • Experience in preparing and executing business development plans and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience in marketing, developing and implementing programs and events
  • Experience with career placement and recruitment
  • Experiencein professional development training and facilitation
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access); and an understanding of databases and CRM functionality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with a strong emphasis on counselling skills.
  • Excellent organizational ability.
  • Excellent presentation, training and facilitation skills and abilities.
  • Ability to relate well to the highly diverse and demanding communities of professional students and a range of global affairs-related organizations.
