Manager, Finance M040423 Department: Finance Type of Position: Full Time, Contract - (15 Months) Location: 7th Floor, 5160 Yonge Street, Toronto ON Reporting to: Assistant Vice President, Finance About Tarion Since 1976, Tarion has provided new home warranty protection to more than 2 million Ontario homes. We serve new home buyers and new homeowners by ensuring that one of their life\xe2\x80\x99s biggest investments is protected. Almost every new home in the province is covered by a new home warranty. This warranty protection is provided by Ontario\xe2\x80\x99s builders and lasts up to seven years. It is backstopped by Tarion. More than 375,000 homes are currently enrolled in the warranty program. Every year about 55,000 new homes are enrolled. With more than 265 employees, Tarion works hard every day to serve the public interest by, first and foremost, protecting consumers and their new home purchases. We investigate homeowner warranty claims; resolve warranty disputes between homeowners and builders; and provide deposit and delayed closing protection for new home buyers. We also manage the Guarantee Fund, an important financial reserve designed to help shield Ontario consumers from possible catastrophic building events. All of this enhances fairness and confidence in Ontario\xe2\x80\x99s new home building industry. About the Role The Finance team is responsible for financial reporting and control, tax and compliance, strategic planning and financial Planning & analysis, Treasury and working capital management, capital budgeting, and Risk management. Reporting to the Assistant Vice
President of Finance, this role has the primary responsibility of managing the day-to-day finance function including cash management, collection, payroll, and deliverables of the
Finance department. This position is also responsible for leading the annual forecast and budget process and Is a key business advisor to business units. This is a hybrid role requiring working two (2) days in the office and three (3) days remotely, per week. Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day finance function and address operational matters for the Finance Department.
  • Manage the Collection and the payroll functions - ensuring deliverables are met and controls In place.
  • Be a business partner to senior management and collaborate with other business units by providing advice and consultation on financial transactions and policies
  • Manage the forecasting and budgeting process Including ensuring forecast/budget information are submitted on a timeliness basis and the creation of the budget package.
  • Responsible for the hiring, mentoring, performance enrichment of 5 direct reports including ensuring the critical daily functions are managed and appropriately resourced.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting and analysis, as required.
  • Act as the backup to the Manager of accounting, as required.
  • Develop financial materials and analysis for the Board and various Committees.
Qualifications:
  • CPA designation with 5 years of experience
  • Strong business and finance acumen
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinker with good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple assignments, both immediate and strategic, at the same time.
  • PeopleSoft Financial Management systems knowledge Is an asset.
  • Insurance background is an asset.
  • Access to High-Speed Internet connection at home is essential.
