About Our Opportunities

The Emerging Platforms division is looking 2 internet-era Managers who wants to help government deliver on a digital and technology strategy for Nova Scotia, specifically passionate about building a government as a platform approach. We\'re interested in candidates who have leadership experience, a track record of delivery, digital awareness and a data-driven approach.

Manager Platform Solutions

In this role, you will lead a team of professionals to define, implement and continuously improve a portfolio of digital platform products. Working closely with various teams and stakeholders, you will conduct research to understand user needs, define platform requirements and oversee the product development cycle ensuring the timely delivery of new features and enhancements that align with platform goals and delivers value to end users.

Manager Platform Operations

In this role, you will lead a team of professionals responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of a portfolio of platform services in a 24/7 operational environment. Working closely with various teams and stakeholders, you will ensure platforms are running smoothly, meeting performance, security and availability requirements. You will also develop and implement operational procedures to optimize system performance, minimize downtime, and ensure platforms are meeting agreed upon SLAs.

What You\'ll Be Doing

The Manager, Emerging Platforms is responsible to:

  • Manage a team of professionals including human, workload and financial management.
  • Promote a culture of trust, teamwork, and psychological safety.
  • Work with various stakeholders across Government and Healthcare to build collaborative relationships and find new ways to innovate.
  • Keep a strong focus on delivery priorities, being accountable for delivery, and acting swiftly to respond to changing user needs.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to promote internet-era ways of working and provide strategic direction to achieve digital transformation.
  • Dive deep to understand the needs of internal and external users, stakeholders, and partners and their related program goals, program policies and operational constraints so that you can deliver products/services that are valuable, usable, accessible, and feasible.
  • Keep people informed and engaged by working in the open and sharing user stories.
  • Seek to understand how a product technically works, ask questions and challenge assumptions.
  • Set measurable goals and reporting metrics for your team to demonstrate progress against stated benefits.
What You Bring to the Table

To be successful in this position, you must have at least five (5) years of relevant experience leading teams, implementing high quality digital products and services and a bachelor\'s degree in a relevant discipline.

Your ability to:
  • Lead a team of direct reports to deliver and support excellent digital platform products and services to users.
  • Manage the strategic direction, scope and budget required to deliver service excellence with new and existing digital platform products to meet users needs.
  • Communicate, collaborate and build strong business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Your experience in:
  • Decision making responsibilities for development and ongoing management of high-quality digital products/services.
  • Influencing at senior levels (e.g. with senior executive teams and deputies).
  • Leading change through influencing collaboration across a matrix organization in a highly fluid environment.
  • Building empowered teams by delegating authority and providing coaching and support
  • Internet-era practices, and ability to effectively engage with multidisciplinary teams to achieve business/policy outcomes.
  • Systematic development and management of people including coaching, motivation, performance management, development planning, and recognition.

Additional Information

While these positions are based in Halifax, travel throughout the province will be required periodically.

Pay Grade: EC 12

Salary Range: $3,458.20 - $4,322.75 Bi-Weekly
