TD\xe2\x80\x99s Corporate and Public Affairs (CAPA) team is a global organization with professionals in over a dozen cities across our footprint. Its primary role is to inspire and connect our customers, communities and colleagues through communications, conversations and advocacy that enrich lives, deliver business outcomes and enhance our brand. The team includes experts in media and public relations, internal engagement, executive communications and support, digital communications and social media, and the best writers and content developers in the industry. CAPA supports every line of business and function in the Bank. CAPA is also responsible for Canadian Government Relations and global public affairs engagement and thought leadership. A team of over 30 professional translators also reports into the CAPA organization.
We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for an experienced professional communicator to plan, develop and deliver engaging content for both internal and external audiences. You\xe2\x80\x99ll play a key role as part of the communications team that is telling TD\xe2\x80\x99s technology and innovation story \xe2\x80\x93 focusing on digital, data, artificial intelligence, cyber, tech talent and transformation.

The successful candidate will:
  • Work closely with senior leaders and business partners to develop and drive strategic communications plans to help bring TD\xe2\x80\x99s technology and innovation narrative to life.
  • Leverage extensive media relations experience and relationships to drive proactive external opportunities, capitalize on emerging trends and capture share of voice.
  • Produce and deliver compelling internal and external stories that will drive engagement and highlight our commitment to enriching the lives of our customers and communities.
  • Develop communications collateral in a variety of mediums (e.g. videos, social media posts, media releases, FAQs, briefing documents, emails, etc.) in multiple voices intended for key target audiences.
  • Identify and manage corporate reputation issues and provide strategic counsel and direction to senior leaders and business partners. Act as a media spokesperson as required.
  • Monitor and measure the impact of communications to increase value and bring forward creative solutions.
  • Develop strong relationships across the Bank to ensure strategic alignment and build trust.
  • Manage relationship with PR agency to help deliver end-to-end earned, owned and paid results.

  • 7-10 years of experience in corporate communications or agency environment.
  • Strong track record in both proactive and reactive media relations. Experience working with journalists and publications focused on technology/innovation.
  • Strong interest in the technology sector with ability to understand complex technology trends and translate into simplified messages.
  • Exceptional writing skills and a passion for storytelling. Experience managing editorial calendars.
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative communications strategies to effectively drive business objectives and use data and analytics to track results.
  • Proven experience providing communications counsel and issues management to business partners and senior executives, managing complex corporate issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines; self-starter highly motivated to deliver results and ability to work independently.
  • Very strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact with individuals and groups across all organizational levels.
  • Undergraduate degree or PR/marketing/corporate communications certification, designations, or equivalent preferred.
