Position Summary
Local Government Authority in Saskatchewan
Description: This course introduces the fundamental concepts of society, democracy and principles of local government administration in the Saskatchewan context.
Topics include: local government democratic values, public administration principles and values, municipal policy making, elected officials responsibilities, communication, public relations, local government finance, budgeting and ethical decision-making.
Position Requirements
Requirements: Candidates should have a Masters degree in a relevant area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LG instructors are asked to attend LG Advisory meetings (approximately two per year) as well as instructor team meetings as needed. LG instructors will be evaluated by students and feedback will be provided by Division Head after each semester to ensure high quality teaching and learning. Communication with other instructors in the LG program is encouraged to ensure transfer of knowledge and skills is consistent throughout the program.
Teaching and Curriculum Development Qualifications: This course will be offered in an online delivery format. Candidates are responsible for ensuring course material and curriculum meets current municipal sector and University academic requirements. Candidates should have good understanding of post-secondary academic standards and have strong communication and analytic skills to provide clear and effective written feedback for students on assignments and exams.
This course will be delivered in an asynchronous, online format. Applicants should be familiar with instruction in an online environment. Familiarity with UR Courses is an asset.
