Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK) is a not-for-profit organization established in 2010 through The Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan Act. TSASK has responsibilities for a broad range of technologies - electrical, gas, plumbing, boiler and pressure vessels, elevating devices, and amusement rides. Our programs are designed to improve the administration, awareness, and oversight of technical safety in Saskatchewan for industry and the general public. Position Summary:



We are seeking a Gas & Plumbing Inspector for the Saskatoon area. This role is responsible to inspect installations and equipment on residential, commercial and industrial premises. This role will also conduct investigations and audit functions, providing recommendations and enforcing corrective actions regarding substandard findings non-compliance. As this role is in direct contact with a variety of external clients and stakeholders, the need for professionalism and exemplary customer service is of paramount importance.

Qualifications:



Journeyperson Plumber or Pipefitter,or equivalent; and

Valid Saskatchewan General Gas Fitters Licence; and

Five (5) years of related experience as a General Gas Fitter with experience in installations and service, or equivalent.

Ability to deal with conflict and recommend solutions to difficult situations;

Ability to work independently and deal with confidential information in a discreet manner;

Excellent computer skills with proficiency in the use of the corporation's standard software;

Ability to deal effectively and cooperatively with others;

Maintain a valid Class 5driver's license, as required by the position;

Ability to successfully perform the role's physical requirements, which includes climbing stairs, ladders, and working in confined spaces.

Key Responsibilities:



Apply sound judgment and display effective customer service skills to develop working relationships with clients, other employees, officials, and all members of the general public;

Ability to manage time and effectiveness for district-wide inspections involving a variety of clients and settings;

Provide oversight and direction on all technical aspects of installation and operating requirements;

Ensure appropriate work is completed in compliance with industry plans, standards, specifications, special requirements, codes and regulations;

Approve materials, confirm specifications, conduct visual and measurement tests and reject unacceptable materials findings and approve and confirm re-work;

Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, inputting data into corporate database;

Ensure employees and contractors possess appropriate qualifications, licences;

Inspect accidents, incidents, violations and consumer complaints;

Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following and communicating standards and procedures complying with legal regulations;

Supervise employee, contractor and public work as required by the position;

Provide information and respond to inquiries from employees, contractors and the general public regarding assigned projects;

Collect, administer and maintain fees, permits, inspections and examinations as required;

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable codes and standards, regulations, equipment and associated technology associated with the position;

Use hand-held tools and electronic devices to perform job duties;

Resolve conflicts effectively, within scope of authority, and escalate when necessary;

Participate in continuous educational and professional development as required;

Travel throughout an assigned district, and the province as required; and

Other related duties, as assigned.
