The Laundry Washer will be involved in a variety of work duties related to the Laundry Service operation working under the supervision of the Housekeeping & Facilities IPAC Supervisor. Laundry washers are required to work in the laundry area and may occasionally be required to work in the Resident Home Areas.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & SUCCESS CRITERIA:
Sorting personal clothing and rough linen
Loading laundry washers; emptying dryers
Labeling resident clothing
Maintaining resident clothing list
Cleaning lint trays in dryers
Wiping down machines
Keeping work area clean and organized.
Other duties may be assigned as required.
This position may be required to perform additional related job functions beyond this description.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Excellent communication skills including the ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
Knowledgeable about the principles of laundry services.
Previous satisfactory work experience in a laundry position preferably in long-term care.
Good physical condition.
Adaptable to work that involves performing repetitive duties.
Have a general understanding of and a willingness to work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Knowledgeable about fire procedures
Knowledgeable about WHMIS (Workplace hazardous Material Information System)
Understand and respect residents' privacy and confidentiality
