JOB SUMMARY




Successful applicants will be involved in a variety of work duties related to the food service operation working under the supervision of the Nutrition Service Manager. Dietary Helpers will be required to work in resident dining areas, respective kitchenettes, and the main kitchen. The applicant may also be responsible for assisting the cook in daily production and preparation tasks when needed. Other duties may be assigned as required.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & SUCCESS

CRITERIA




Serving beverages, and meals to residents Assisting with meal preparation, portioning food, transporting food, dishes, and pots to and from meal service areas Maintaining a clean work area; cleaning dishes, equipment, and carts Meets the time schedule for meals and snack times Using the computer screens and the Menu Modules/Nutribase computer programs daily Reading and understanding and utilizing the therapeutics, production sheets, temperature sheets, and completion of all tools provided Follows proper food handling techniques including but not limited to glove use, hand washing, temperature taking and recording, preventing cross-contamination, etc. Rotating stock, labeling, dating, and storing food properly Putting away food orders daily and other duties may be assigned as required

This position may be required to perform additional related job functions beyond this description.





QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS




Excellent communication skills including the ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English Able to work in a fast-paced environment. Able to use computer technology and software on a daily basis Ability to attend work on a regular basis. Previous satisfactory work experience in a food service position preferably in long-term care. Must provide current Brant County Health Unit Food Handler's Certificate or equivalent at the time of application Have a general understanding of and willingness to work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Must have completed the Food Service Worker Certificate Program from an established College or a registered private career college in Ontario. Must show proof of completion at the time of application. If currently enrolled in a Food Service Worker program must provide proof of enrolment



AVAILABILITY

:

Must be available at minimum, every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday)
