Provide input to direct supervisor regarding staffing needs, product requirements, service changes due to workload and computer/LIS issues
Coordinate staff to ensure workload is managed efficiently with a goal to keeping community patient wait times at or below defined acceptable limits and sample turnaround times for collections within the facility and offsite.
Monitor Community STAT TAT\xe2\x80\x99s to ensure they are completed within acceptable timeframe and then fax results to appropriate location.
Identifies problems arising in the section. Initiates problem solving as required.
Monitors and coaches staff
Assists direct supervisor in disseminating information on changes to policy, procedure and equipment
Other supervisory duties as delegated
Contributes to the development and update of lab procedures.
Coordinates and participates in training new staff, students and other clinical staff as required.
Perform venipuncture, ECG\xe2\x80\x99s and Holter monitors on inpatients, registered outpatients and community patients.

Required Experience
Recent Venipuncture experience is required
Three years of recent and related experience as a Laboratory Assistant is required
Supervisory experience within the Patient Service Centres is an asset
Experience performing urinalysis is an asset
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma
Medical Laboratory Assistant certificate, including training in urinalysis, is required
Registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta is an asset
Must have a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and satisfactory drivers abstract
