Job Description




In conjunction with the Pre and Post Analytics Team Leaders, the MLAII provides leadership with the day-to-day department workflow, training and orientation of staff in Pre and Post Analytics area to achieve departmental performance indicators, including Pre and Post turnaround times and non-conforming events indicators.

Major Functions and Responsibilities

  • Providing feedback, coaching and support to Pre-Analytic staff.
  • Providing information to supervisor to assist in the performance evaluation process.
  • Training and orientation of new staff.
  • Contributing to process improvement, projects and privacy education.
  • Acting as a key resource in Pre-Analytics for routine and unusual requests, and for problem solving.
  • Report and mail distribution; scheduling such as coordinating staff for absences to ensure proper and adequate coverage.
  • Applying infection control, safety, TDG, WHMIS and other accreditation standards.
  • Inventory management by maintaining an adequate level of working supplies.
  • Assisting in validation and assessment of procedures.
  • participation in meetings.
  • Duties of an LAI and Administrative Support II and general duties as required.

  • Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills, computer skills.
  • Ability to adapt to new situations, ability to multitask, ability to change directions and priorities quickly.
  • Must be comfortable working in a rapid, task force style environment when needed to implement rapid changes to processes.
  • Ability to comprehend complex information and easily collaborate with alternate healthcare teams to meet service goals;
  • Work independently in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
Required Experience
  • Data entry experience in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity within the last year.
  • Experience interpreting workflow visuals and ability to respond appropriately to meet turnaround times.
  • Advanced user and problem-solving knowledge with Millennium/ EPIC.
  • Proven proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs including Excel.
  • Experience in quality control procedures and accreditation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years experience as Medical Laboratory Assistant in Pre and Post Analytics .
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience is an asset.
