The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full time, contract (2 years) IT Specialist - Infrastructure to work in the Information Management Group (IMG). Reporting to the Web & Portal Team Lead. The IT Specialist\xe2\x80\x99s primary accountability will include the support and enhancement of Web IT Infrastructure technologies, which will include but are not limited to Windows Server and Data Centre Lifecycle Management. The IT Specialists primary role will be maintaining and monitoring the Web & Portal Infrastructure which includes Hyper-V VM Hosts and virtual machines, SQL Server clusters, storage management, patching, and backups. The other duties will be to provide 24/7 on call support for CAMH\xe2\x80\x99s growing Linux-based Moodle environment for the Education services. The on call support will be rotated with another IT specialist The IT Specialist will work with our outsourcing vendor to ensure all aspects of the Web & Portal infrastructure are running at optimal performance. You will analyze and document performance characteristics for Web & Portal infrastructure and applications to provide recommendations and implement solutions. Some key responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software components of the Web IT infrastructure.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system performance issues to ensure the smooth operation of the Web IT infrastructure.
  • Plan and execute regular backups and disaster recovery procedures to ensure the availability of data and IT services in case of a system failure.
  • Manage user accounts and access privileges to ensure the security and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Evaluate and recommend new hardware and software technologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Web IT infrastructure.
  • Document and maintain system configurations, procedures, and user guides to ensure consistency and accuracy in system administration.
  • Collaborate with other IT specialists and departments to design and implement IT solutions that meet business needs.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in Web IT infrastructure to continuously improve the performance and security of the environment.
In addition, the successful candidate will provide technical recommendations to projects requiring IT infrastructure. Other IT related duties may be assigned as required. This position might require the candidate to install/move/add/change (IMAC) server and storage equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more. The candidate will support a workplace that embraces diversity, and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. This position is located at the Queen Street site. Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess a university degree, preferably in a computer-related field combined with relevant work experience. An equivalent combination of working experience and education may also be considered. The candidate will have at least 4 years of hands-on experience installing, managing and troubleshooting a medium to large Enterprise Infrastructure in a heterogeneous environment (Windows, Linux, Mac). Knowledge and experience with Microsoft virtualization technologies, IIS, MS SQL clusters, DNS, SAN storage and Moodle would be considered an asset. Moodle support training will be provided. The Candidate will have excellent written and verbal communications skills and can document technical and business information/processes to all levels of the organization. The candidate is able to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment with clients and staff from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in another language are considered an asset. Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
Please Note: This full-time, contract (2 years) position is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit. Salary Range: $38.21 - $51.54 per hour
