About This Role The Human Resources Specialist will provide support in the areas of employee relations, recruiting, talent management, benefits administration, performance management, reporting, and be involved in a variety of special projects. The Human Resources Specialist will actively carry out Human Resources activities within ThinkOn and provide support to the Head of Human Resources as required. Duties & Responsibilities - Recruitment: Design and update job descriptions; source potential candidates from various online channels; screen incoming resumes; advertise job openings on ThinkOn\xe2\x80\x99s careers page, job boards, and internally; provide shortlists of qualified candidates to hiring managers; monitor key HR metrics, including time-to-fill, time-to-hire, and source of hire; collaborate with managers to identify future hiring needs
- Manage document uploads to the Human Resource Management System
- Support driving process improvements to current HR practices
- Support the onboarding process with respective new hires, including designing and distributing materials for new hires
- Explore co-op/intern opportunities with various educational institutes
- Assist with the execution of recruitment related events
- Assist with Learning and Development (L&D) initiatives as well as the marketing and promotion of corporate L&D products and services
- Support with the preparation of and delivery of HR Team Presentations
- Advise ThinkOn and employees in the interpretation of Human Resources policies, compensation, and benefits programs
- Coordinate daily benefits processing: handle enrollments, terminations, and changes
- Research and prepare occupations classifications, job descriptions, salary scales, and competency appraisal measurements and systems
- Manage programs and maintain Human Resources information and related record systems, including updating employee records with new information and/or changes in employment status
- Process employee queries and respond in a timely manner
- Stay up-to-date and comply with changes in labour legislation for the United States and Canada
- Coordinate employee performance appraisal programs
- Other duties as assigned Qualifications - Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or a Relevant Field
- 4+ years of work experience as an HR Specialist or HR Generalist
- Hands-on experience with a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) such as Humi
- Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems
- Strong understanding of labour legislation in Canada
- Experience with full cycle recruiting
- Great attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Willingness to learn new technologies and stay up to date on technology trends
- Strong problem analysis and problem solving skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively internally and externally Nice To Have - CHRP/CHRL designation is an asset
- Experience with Labor Legislation and Benefits in the United States is an asset
