Job description Human Resources Specialist Reports to: Human Resources Manager Term: Permanent full time Closing Date: Open until filled Location : 120 Promenade du Portage, Gatineau, QC Summary The Human Resources Specialist handles the generalist Human Resource functions , including end-to-end recruitments, assisting employees with their insurance and health care claims and benefit packages and handling documentation. Human Resourcers Specialsit also provides other generalist Human Resource functions as requested by management, which include addressing employee inquiries, orientation, data entry, file maintenance, generating reports, policy and procedure writing as well as end-to-end recruiting process. Job Duties
  • Perform HR Generalist duties.
  • Handle high volume recruitments, including screening and presenting candidates for interview.
  • Provide support in the administer health and welfare plans including enrolments, changes, and terminations.
  • Process required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and requests.
  • Reconcile benefits statements.
  • Assist with recruitment and interview process, track the status of candidates and respond with follow-up emails at the end of the recruiting process.
  • Correspond with the background check vendor and ensure timely report generation.
  • Any other responsibilities as required.
\xc2\xb7 Responsible for assisting HR in recruiting staff for the office and providing orientation and training of new office and corporate employees. \xc2\xb7 Responsible for managing office services by ensuring office operations and procedures are organized, correspondences are controlled, filing systems are designed, supply requisitions are reviewed and approved, and that clerical and corporate functions are properly assigned and monitored. \xc2\xb7 Assist with processing of terminations. \xc2\xb7 Ensure timely data entry, handle requests on information and data as demanded by leadership \xc2\xb7 Maintain data confidentiality, adhere to implementing a \xe2\x80\x9cpaper light\xe2\x80\x9d plan for the organization and assist HR Manager in generating timely reports from HRIS. \xc2\xb7 Schedule meetings and interviews as requested by the HR leadership. \xc2\xb7 Make photocopies, fax documents and perform other clerical functions. \xc2\xb7 Electronically files papers and documents into appropriate employee files/e filing system. \xc2\xb7 Assist on and prepare correspondence. \xc2\xb7 Prepare new employee files. \xc2\xb7 Process the emails. \xc2\xb7 Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements
  • Certificate, diploma or degree in Human Resources management or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Indigenous organizations and/or not-for-profit\xe2\x80\x99s preferred.
  • Experience using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook e-mail. (Experience using HRIS system Ceridian is preferred)
  • Strong morals and ethics.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
