Monitor employment legislation including ESA, OHRC, OHSA, AODA, and the Pay Equity Act, and ensure organizational compliance through policy and program development, maintenance, evaluation, and training development and delivery
Provide leadership, direction, coaching, support and guidance to managers on all people-related issues
Participate in contract negotiations, provide guidance and support in the interpretation and administration of the collective agreement,
and represent the employer at grievance hearings
Oversee the professional compensation program including performing market surveys, data analysis and making recommendations to ensure an internally equitable and externally competitive compensation structure
Develop and implement best practice recruitment and retention practices, along with salary administration, job evaluation initiatives,
and Pay Equity maintenance reviews
Coordinate, monitor and evaluate the organization's occupational health & safety program including performing workplace assessments
and investigations
Administer disability claims and perform return to work case management for employees on occupational and non-occupational disability leaves
Administer the group benefit plan and group retirement plan. Intercede on behalf of plan members with any dispute in claims
Skills, Qualifications, & Requirements:
Degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, or Business Administration
Minimum of five years' work experience in a human resources advisory role within a unionized environment
CHRL designation an asset
Comprehensive knowledge of all Acts, Regulations, Standards and Principles governing the employment relationship
Proven leadership, leadership development and negotiation skills
Strong analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and project management skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
